Thornbury Tandoori — Restaurant in England

Stopped in Thorbury for the weekend and thought it would be nice to treat the wife to a meal so googled indian restaurants in Thorbury and a few come up all good reviews .Thorbury Tandoori stood out as a cosy looking atmospheric place so booked online .on arrival we were seated the restaurant was full all eating drinking having fun which was a good start. Poppadoms to start with then my wife ordered curried fish with keema and garlic nan I had special balti madras hot special biryani WOW the food was piping hot well presented and tasted amazing the lamb chicken and prawn in the curry and the rice dish were succulent and living near the balti belt in Birmingham there standard's what be hard to follow Thorbury Tandoori certainly matched our expectations thanking you for making our night extra special Food Drink...

I only the day before realised that this Indian restaurant existed just off Thornbury high street, so decided to give it a try. I was surprised by how spacious the restaurant was inside, it didn't feel cramped like some can and I had initially expected a tiny one room restaurant judging by the outside. I ordered the Lamb Aloo and it was cooked lovely, the rice and cheese naan also perfect. I was dining with my little boy and he was really happy with his chicken nuggets and chips also! Although decent, we were not as impressed as expected from other reviews. I had the chicken tikka masala, which had a nice flavour, but the sauce was too thin and the chicken was not as tender as I have come to expect from other restaraunts. We also ordered plain rice, but received rice with onions, rice should be totally plain if ordered as such. The Chicken pakora was nice and plentiful, so top marks for that. The Tandoori chicken (as a starter) was a little small and again not the best quality meat in my opinion.

Overall, not bad but from my experience the long standing Mumtaz restaurant across the road has nothing to worry about. None the less, I...
