My fiancé and I were staying nearby after attending a funeral on Fri 23/09/2022. We walked into the restaurant and asked if they had a table for two. The single member of staff standing there looked at us and sniggered before she asked us if we’d reserved a table. She seemed to take great delight in the fact that we hadn’t booked a table as she turned and looked at the lady sat dining at the table next to her and said something to her in her native language and laughed at us more. We were too stunned at the rudeness to challenge her for her rudeness but, instead, we apologised for not having booked in advance . As we walked out, she called out to suggest they could put us on a corner table that she didn’t think would be of much interest to us but, even then she seemed to be mocking us so we just left. We’ve never experienced such rudeness in any restaurant before and we are still uncertain as to why we were treated like that. Our conclusion is that, for whatever reason, this member of staff was either just generally rude to customers or more likely, that she just didn’t like the look of us, either because of how we were dressed (too smart or too casual, who knows), and/or she didn’t like one or both of our ethnicity groups or the fact that we were a mixed couple of different ethnic backgrounds (I’m of Asian descent and my fiancé is white/Caucasian) . We are both Brits and neither of us, either individually or together, have ever experienced the rudeness we experienced at Ros Thai. It’s still a mystery as to why we’d be laughed at for simply walking in and asking if they had room for two. (And there were a few empty tables at 7pm that Friday). Needless to say, we would not recommend this place to anyone just based on the poor customer service received from...
Read moreWalked in and sat down for five of us. First impression really nice the lay out and felt really like a Thai restaurant. When it came to customer service felt being an Asian the tone changed towards us all completely like as if your not welcomed here, but we were to hungry for selecting other restaurants elsewhere, when asked for recommendations on which dish to try in the vegetarian selection she gave no answer and said we don’t say. So food was ordered and asked to bring everyone’s food all together. She was so Awkward and brought single items when she felt like. She was fine with the rest of the customers running around them but when we asked for and said excuse me for serval times she just ignored us. The vegetarian dishes were awful but the meat dishes were amazing. We were over charged for dishes we didn’t even ordered and our noddles came out when we all had finished our dishes. Overall the food presentationwas very nice and the meats dishes were amazing the fish was just like you would taste in Thailand. But vegetarian dishes were not cooked and they were cold. The service was awful she needs to smile at all her customers and not choose her body language was nasty and her face expressions she need to go back home and start her evening again at the restaurant disgusting behaviour to her paying customers I wouldn’t visit there in a rush back. Charged us £3.25 for a can of coke which was just...
Read moreI met my friend here before going to see a play in Rottingdean. As we were limited on time we asked to have our starter and main served at the same time only to be laughed at by our waitress who I am guessing was the owner. I asked her what was so funny and she laughed even harder. This seems to be a common theme after reading other reviews. She then started shouting at a customer down the phone so the entire restaurant could hear her which added to the already toxic atmosphere. It didn't stop there however and when we asked for the bill she did the hand gesture of shoo! I'm busy! Perhaps she needs a wake up call about how eating out now is a real treat for a lot of people who work hard to make a living. I for one won't be spending my hard earned money here again .As for leaving a tip, now that was something to...
