A very lovely little cafe with baked goods, that are also suitable for vegans. We asked for an iced chocolate instead of a hot chocolate and I highly recommend, that you add it to your selection of drinks. Thanks for creating this for us! It was so needed in this very warm day.

Outstanding food; outstanding welcome and service. My gyros was really tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. The welcome on arrival was also really warm, despite staff looking busy. A lovely spot.

Had a tea, and a pastry, much needed after walking from Peacehaven. A charming little restaurant with a good variety of food and cake for consumption. Sofas to relax on at the rear

I got takeaway from here to try it out, as I'm sick of there only being kebabs and pizzas to order in the area. I got a marg pizza, beef giros, and loaded fries. I will 100 percent order this again. The beef was so tender and beautifully cooked and seasoned, the salad and coleslaw were so fresh I wouldn't be surprised if they grew it themselves. The bread on this was so fresh and chewy, and so thick! I split everything with my bf and we were both stuffed. The pizza base is delicious, best in town, the tomato sauce is also really nice. Generally I hate it but the flavour of it is like nothing else. Lastly the loaded fries, the pepperoni was CRISPY! Usually with loaded fires its just sort of chucked on, but they were crispy, the onions were so flavourful, the chips were cooked to perfection (and are those V shaped chips too so extra crisp!). They had cheese and (i think) a cheese sauce, if it was a sauce I'd like more of it! There was also LOADS of cheese. Really impressed and I think I've found my new regular takeaway. Prices are old school prices. 5er for a big box of loaded fries (newhaven kebab charge 7.50 for a cheesy chips), 9 quid for a pizza that was ACTUALLY decent sized, and 11 for the beef giros which I'm 99 percent sure was a steak...

Don't bother if you have dietary requirements. Visited after reading some encouraging reviews about vegan food available (which caters my need to remain dairy and egg free), however I am also intolerant of soya which is often used in vegan substitutes - staff clueless about the ingredients of their pastries and bread, kept reiterating that these come from a factory that handles soya and milk but they don't get the full ingredients list. Which is also a bit rubbish if claiming to be an artisan bakery? Coffee was also very sub par. The best thing about the cafe is a nice baby change area, but only one high chair available for the whole cafe.

Edited to add: This is not about not having the options for my specific requirements. I know they are extremely restrictive and difficult to cater for, believe me I am used to this,I am living with this. What is disappointing is when the artisan bakery can't tell me what's in the goods they're selling - it was a simple question of whether your vegan pastries contain any soya as an ingredient, and your staff just kept saying they don't know as they get it from the factory without the individual list of ingredients? Not had this issue at other places where a quick "sorry this contains soya milk" is...

Having tried this place once before and being disappointed, we decided to give it a second chance. The first time was back in November and the two takeaway sandwiches we ordered had barely any filling in them, so much so, if I didn't know what was in them, I couldn't have told you what it was. For the second time, we ordered takeaway sandwiches which once again, had very little filling in them. The bread is lovely but I have to say the lack of filling is a total joke. I know everyone is cutting back so I don't expect them stuffed, but two slices of wafer thin pastrami and a minute smear of mustard is not acceptable. When you're charging almost £10 for two sandwiches, I expect more. Such a shame as it could be really nice but we won't be...
