When we went in we were told there would be a 40 min wait for our mains, this was absolutely fine. Food arrived and it was ok. I had the Cajun chicken baguette which tasted nothing like Cajun but was still lovely. The roast looked amazing. Now to the bad part. After our mains were taken away I went back inside to grab a dessert menu- to which I was spoken to very rudely by a waiter, his exact words were ‘excuse me where are you going? Do you have a table and have you asked if you can have a menu?’ To which I replied ‘I’m getting a menu to look at the dessert menu’. Shortly after what I assume was the manager (as was wearing diff uniform) I asked him if there was a problem with us ordering a dessert as the other staff member made it very clear. To which he replied ‘no of course you can order a dessert, but it will be an hour wait’ I was obviously shocked! An HOUR to make a dessert? I asked why it would take an hour. To which he replied ‘because we have other/newer customers now and there food is now our main priority so your desserts will have to wait’

This is absolutely appalling behaviour. Never in my life have I been in a restaurant and not been able to have a dessert because other customers...

Fabulous food and one of the best Pino Grigio wines we have had! We visited here on Wednesday 12th July about 3pm and the young girl behind the bar was very efficient, friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble for her. There is seating outside at the front of the pub, lots of seating in the pub and a lot of seating outside the back of the pub in a fabulous beer garden with open seating and very comfortable under cover seating with heaters. They have thought of everything and all weathers. Really nice atmosphere. We met a lot of really nice people. Food was excellent. Cooked exactly how we asked, hot, tasty and top quality. The service was excellent. The young blond waiter serving was really friendly and efficient. We stayed for about 5 hours as we couldn't resist another bottle of their Pino and we were so comfortable. Could not have been better. We would highly recommend this fantastic pub to anyone and we would say its the best in...

We looked at local hostelries for food and came across the Rose and Crown. We were met by a welcoming member of the staff who explained food was not available till 5pm so we were shown to a table for the 6 of us who were celebrating my wifes birthday. We ordered our drinks and they were cheerfully served. Dead on 5pm our order for food was taken, within 30 minutes our 6 meals were delivered lovely and hot, fresh and we all could not get over the size each meal. Every one of us struggled to finish the burger meals, mussel meal and creamy cajun chicken meals. We all said that we enjoyed our meals and thanked the staff as it was a wonderful , tasting meal and staff experience. Should you consider visiting this wonderful establishment we would advise that you ring and book as even though this was a tuesday we had our meal they had to turn aa family away as they were fully booked. Thank you again all at the Rose and Crown we...

The Rose and Crown is a lovely pub, tucked away at the end of the town, it's easy to miss it. We booked for Sunday lunch based on the strength of other reviews here, and were not disappointed. The staff were brilliant - all friendly, welcoming and efficient. The beers were good, but the food was excellent! We had the roast lamb and roast beef, and the plates were piled high with food. The meat was delicious and tender, the side of stuffing was amazing - so tasty! And the cauliflower cheese side was also fantastic. Sadly no room for dessert, but would definitely recommend booking for Sunday lunch if you're in the area. It's a popular place, and you can see why!

This was my second time coming for Sunday roast, and much to my great surprise they had a delicious veggie nut roast available. The other two in our small party had roast beef which they both enjoyed. I’m sad I didn’t ask the server if they had a vegetarian option when I came a few months ago, but that’s my own fault! (I had a vegetarian curry then which was also very good). The atmosphere and value are great, so I’m sure we’ll be back again soon. Sid’s room with the fire is super cozy to sit in on a cool day. Overall a wonderful pub to spend a few hours on a Sunday (or any other day!)
