Not a bad pub but one lacking clear vision. The decor is a disjointed mix of Victoriana, New Age and H R Geiger. Decent range of beers on tap, plus there was a beer festival going on when we visited - I had a pint of the lime-green Signs of Spring bitter, gimmicky colour but a pleasantly drinkable mild bitter. Clientele is mostly builders, we had a job parking between all the white vans. A small pub food menu has all the expected classics plus a kids menu. The food arrived on time and hot, but nothing to write home about. The large beer garden is in a state of disrepair, which is a shame - a marquee houses a load of mismatching chairs, a BBQ area is chained off, and signage suggests the garden had bee hives and ponds at some point. In summary, a pub with a lot of potential that wouldn't require very much spit and polish to shine. Maybe take down some of the silly Halloween decorations though, eh? Ā Ā Ā Read moreHaving recently moved to the area this place was the last on our list of locals to try out and what is it they say about saving the best? Beautifully decorated (apparently very recently), welcoming village atmosphere and friendly staff. We visited on new years day when you wouldn't expect anyone to be up to very much but not only was it a bright place to be they were serving food all day. The quality of the meals would put many restaurants to shame and we're looking forward to bringing friends and family here for more of the same. Sounds weird but I have to mention the toilets which were exemplary but are so often forgotten about in even the nicest pubs. I now feel even better about moving to Sandhurst now that I know this place is 10 minutes from my front door. Needless to say I highly recommend the Rose & Crown if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRegrettably our visit was a disaster, ordered 2 different Sunday lunches but as they had run out of the turkey they assumed that we'd both accept the pork and that's they served us. Apologised for lack of the turkey but had they asked beforehand we'd have told them that one of us would not eat pork. We requested a nut cutlet as a replacement and instead of taking both dinner's away so that when the replacement was ready we could eat together, my dinner was left for me to eat and the second meal served 30 minutes later. No feedback as to how long it take we had to constantly ask, ironicaiiy served chicken instead which is what we wanted in the first place but had been told initially they had run out. No offer of a free drink or price reduction due to all poor service and communication, extremely disappointed,...
