Sorry to say its gone down hill from what it was. I've been using this branch of Rowes in particular for 33 years. In the last 10 years it's been heading south, in the last 2 it got bad. Pasties are all pastry no content. Sunday's they used to open 10 till 4, these days it's 10:30 till sometime between 3:30 and 4. A lot of the really nice pastries they used to have they no longer sell. They had the best cafe in town upstairs, now just a rubbish one downstairs. Read moreReally bad, paid £7 for a large and small pasty and must have thrown £6 worth straight in the bin. Greasy, tasteless and barely warm, nowhere near enough seasoning, soggy pastry. The meat was sparse to say the least and what was in there was too fatty (way beyond reason). I'm staggered this place is doing as well as it seems to. Read moreI think that Rowes is a bit of an institution in Cornwall and for good reason. What they are is, essentially, a Cornish pasty maker. Sure you can buy sausage rolls, a hot drink and maybe even a cookie but these aren't what it's all about. No you come to Rowes for its pasties because they are excellent: light pasty, tasty fillings and bulky enough to make you stop thinking about meals for the rest of the day.
