We arrived a bit late for a meal as we were driving a fair bit, we were directed to this pub by the local premiere inn. When we arrived, we grabbed a seat and started to look at the food menu. While there, the man behind the bar made a comment to someone who he was serving "They expect to get fed" and both of them chuckled. When I looked around, they were both looking at us, I was a little annoyed but then went up and asked if we can order food, the man at the bar said to me "I dunno, is she still serving food" I shrugged and told him I didn't know. He then pressed the horn on his wheelchair and a lovely, pleasant girl came out and took our order. I was a little more irritated at this point so my travel partner went up to order the drinks because I was afraid of what I might say to the barman. Our food arrived, my travel partner had a big plate of chicken with some sort of yellow sauce and veg (she said it tasted nice) I ordered the fish and chips as it required as little thought as possible, I was too annoyed to think straight. So, the fish and chips arrived, the fish tasted nice and the chips were lovely and crispy. However, I am fairly sure the fish was frozen fish from Sainsburys!! Well, I was so disappointed I want to walk out of the place. We had our meal, finished our drinks, and left. Perhaps they didn't like us arriving so late for a meal or it was the Irish accent that turned them off but it was a very unpleasant experience and the pub itself...
Read moreWhat a disaster! On the 16th May, after a long 5 hour journey to Taunton, we were excited to get a last minute table at Ruiston Inn, however, perhaps this should have been a huge red flag. Upon arrival we were happy to see the pub was quiet, we’re fairly quiet people and thought we would get served in good time. We couldn’t have been more wrong! We were ushered to the nearest table and ended up helping ourselves to menus after being ignored since arriving. We eventually ordered 2 soft drinks and a meal each. The drinks came fairly quickly followed by one meal. Some of the scampi was undercooked, the portion was small and the plate was cold. We were then told that the second meal hadn’t made it from the till to the kitchen, clearly not the tills fault but the useless staff on shift. The second meal arrived 15 minutes later with lots of apologies but again served on a cold plate, the food itself was lovely. We were offered a free round of drinks but declined as we hadn’t finished our current drinks and asked for a reduction on the bill. This was honoured and the entire cost of the second meal was removed. We appreciate they tried to rectify the mistake but sadly this doesn’t make up for such poor service. We will not be returning nor recommending. Good luck if you...
Read moreHave just visited this pub when we stayed at the Premiere Inn at Ruishton. If you are looking for a nice friendly pub do not bother to go here. The Landlord was extremely negative and we felt he did not want us there. We were going to have a meal there but felt if the lack of care and attention to customers was that poor we didn't even want to try the food. We felt we needed a rule book as soon as you walked through the door with the do's and don'ts informed to us by the landlord as we started to play pool. When we asked about the skittle Alley we were told he would have to open it all up and we would have to pay as well (as though we would have expected it for nothing). All in all felt very unwelcomed and left...
