Bought a table from Oak Furniture Land and when it arrived two of the legs were faulty (bolts had threaded due to a manufacturers defect in the pre-existing bolt holes) and there were marks on the top of the table. Phoned Oak Furniture who then arranged for someone to come and have a look. They said that the legs were knackered that he couldn't do anything. Oak Furniture then said that they would have to replace the table. Delivery driver turned up earlier than the expected timeframe (this was was fine as they called beforehand). However, the main driver complained he couldn't take the table because the legs were still on it, even though this was the issue! Hence I couldn't take the legs off. He complained about the lack of time he had to try and take them off (even though he was early) and said he would have to break the legs off (which he did). He complained of a lack of communication at their end (he wasn't aware of the issue) and generally was very unlikable, angry and unhelpful. It's a shame I've had to take almost 2 days worth of annual leave off to accept the deliveries (they don't deliver on weekends), find issues, wait months for a replacement after paying over £1000 and constructing it and waxing it all ourselves (other home stores will assemble it for us) with the furniture pre-waxed. Overall not a great experience, the new table and chairs however are very nice. After the delivery, we received a feedback survey and explained this to them and haven't heard anyting since. Will not buy from...
Read moreI have recently been extremely disappointed by the customer service provided by the Taunton store. Over the years we have spent literally thousands of pounds buying various items of furniture. We recently purchased a sofa and footstool. When the footstool was delivered it was placed on the floor, it wasn't until I moved it later that I realised the leg was not secure as it fell off.
I contacted the store to advise, I had to chase for a response a couple of times and was then told that they had emailed Head Office and to contact them. I contacted Head Office who said they couldn't help as the furniture wasn't warrantied because it was reduced. So, back to the store. Then told to speak to the Manager. Spoke to the Manager who said that when the item left the showroom it was in good order, so there was nothing that could be done.
I appreciate that the company checks had been carried out and maybe this was the case. But, to be honest even if I'd sat on the bloody thing and broken it myself (which I didn't), it seems extremely irrelevant to me.
As a loyal customer who has spent thousands previously, surely good customer service would be to bend over backwards to get the leg repaired, or replaced?
I was basically told 'sorry, there's nothing we can do'. Really? There's always something that can be done if people use their initiative.
We won't be returning to this store. Neither will our 4 children who are all buying and furnishing houses at the moment.
What a shame. All for the sake of a...
Read moreHad a terrible first impression of Oak Furnitureland Taunton store today.
Pushy staff that pounce on you as soon as you come in the door. One of the staff said something quite rude which was obviously a desperate sales tactic to plant a seed in your mind that you have to buy something in their store today. I nearly walked out at this point. Decided to stay and found something I liked. I didn’t even have a chance to sit on the sofa, before I was pounced on again. At this point I felt I had to say how I felt with the rude comment I was faced with when I entered the store.
Rather than sympathise with how I felt, the member of staff stuck up for his colleague, saying it was only a joke, thus justifying their rude comment as normal practice. I was in utter disbelief. Is this how Oak Furnitureland treat their customers on a daily basis? I sincerely hope not.
The company seem to be very eager to make “any” sale, rather than treating you with respect and waiting for their customer to ask a question or advice on a product.
All in all, the company have done the complete opposite of what they wanted and driven sales away.
I will never buy from Oak Furnitureland after today’s horrible experience.
I decided to visit DFS after. They were much more chilled and relaxed and actually treated you like a person, rather than...
