Popped in with my wife last Saturday for a coffee/tea and hoped to buy a couple of cakes. Not particularly welcoming. My wife explained my lactose intolerance - a common thing that happens to many people once they reach about sixty, although affects people of all ages. Basically (and I'm sorry to have to explain it here, but if cafe owners don't understand...) it means that you can't eat anything that contains milk or butter. They seemed to have a good range of cakes, but when we mentioned it they just said, 'we had a vegan cake but it sold out'. I don't have to have Vegan - I can eat eggs - but, anyway, their token choice must be popular so what does that tell you? Because we only settled for drinks they insisted on serving all the customers who ordered food first. The Americans and Italians would laugh at this - a cafe should welcome its customers by bringing drinks straight away. You DO NOT leave your guests sitting at a dry table just because you can't keep up with the modern-day requirement to cater for easy dietary requirements. Perhaps a refresher course for the owners and staff of this establishment would benefit their business, as well as providing a handy tax benefit that, who knows, might even help to bring...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSammy Gās is a delightful seaside cafĆ© and bakery that has become a staple of our holidays in Westbay. We always look forward to visiting because the food is consistently excellent, and the service is usually top-notch. Callum, in particular, always makes our visits memorable with his friendly and professional demeanor.
However, our recent visit was marred by an unfortunate encounter with a staff member named Laura. While ordering a crab sandwich and a glass of Coke, my wife requested the slice of lemon that typically accompanies the sandwich to be put in her drink along with some ice instead. Lauraās response, "We are not a bar," was both shocking and disappointing. It came across as rude and unprofessional, which was quite surprising given our previous positive experiences.
Despite this incident, we will continue to visit Sammy Gās, as we enjoy the food and appreciate the excellent service we have received in the past. We do hope this feedback reaches the owner, as it is important to address such issues to maintain the high standards that weāve come to expect from this lovely...

Sorry, but you haven't even apologised for the terrible service from your staff. And do you think I'm lying about the stale bread and terrible cheese or something. I'm giving you constructive criticism & feedback as a custermer to let you know that the bread was most definitely not fresh, and the cheese wasn't great, so you may want to speak to you supplyers.
And you most definitely want to speak to all of your staff about their customer service and manors. That's all I'm saying.
As I came in for a coffee the other day, and I'm sorry but they are not very welcoming or hospitable/friendly š¤·āāļø
Your response/ reply was not very professional. Rude in my opinion
My nan and two of her friends went in for a sandwich today. And straight away the service wasn't great at all, very rude.
And the sandwich was terrible, the bread was stale and old, little bit of grated cheese, no tomato, lettice anything. And the same with the tuna mayo sandwich.
If the lad wasn't so rude in the beginning, they would have mentioned about the sandwich. £6 as...
