We went recently whilst on holiday in Filey. We booked a table a few days in advance. When we arrived, we were greeted by a female member of staff who checked the booking in the restaurant's diary. She then asked us to be seated on the sofa by the bar, whilst they prepared our table. 5 minutes later we were led to our table for two, which was in the family room, and where there was a lot of children running around and making a noise, due to a birthday party celebration. We had noticed on arrival that there were several tables vacant in the main quiet part of the restaurant and which we could not understand why we had been placed in the family room when we had booked in advance. The waiter came and asked if everything was ok, when we said no, we wanted to be in a quieter area in order to hopefully enjoy our meal. He then led us into the quiet area to another table.
We ordered our pizza and spaghetti and a bottle of wine. The wine came and was just plonked on the table without us being asked for a tasting. So obviously we could not tell if the wine was to standard. The food was OK but we have experienced a higher quality of food at another Italian restaurant nearby.
Towards the end of our meal, the waitress came to one of us and asked if we had finished, when we had not!
Service poor. This used to be a very good Italian restaurant and seems to have "gone down" in the last couple of years. We will not be booking again...
Read moreWent for the happy hour before 6pm, and glad we'd not paid full price. Marked food as a 2 star as the starter we had was lovely, however things took a turn with the mains. All pizzas were bland and one was inedible due to it having not much topping, with no flavour at all. First time any of us have had a pizza that didn't taste of anything. Staff seemed to be circulating around the restaurant, but like other reviews, it wasn't until we came to the clearing up of plates that we were asked how things were and weren't asked if we wanted the dessert menu or more drinks. We mentioned that the pizzas didn't taste of anything (one of which had one slice eaten and the meat from the topping), which the waiter seemed surprised about, but didn't offer an apology or a way to rectify. We mentioned the same when paying the bill when asked how everything was, it seems that the staff are unsure of how to deal with complaints as nothing was really said and no apology. I would not recommend this place for people visiting the area. Customer service and the...
Read moreThe food is fantastic. The service and front of house is poor. We were a five, squeezed onto a table for 4. Another family of 3 were squeezed onto a table of 2.
I only got one drink as the waitress never came back to check on us or take another order in the 2 hours. Nor did anyone come to ask us if everything was alright with the food (luckily the food is great).
The waitress spent more time chatting to her friends at a other table rather than attenting to other diners. Also, when offering specials, it's good practice to let diners know what's available before they order, then they won't waste time deliberating something they can't have.
So to summarise, go for the food, not the service. Sorry San Marco, your chef carries you at this restaurant, just pray they don't leave like your customers...
