Booked a table based on the great reviews on here, unfortunately we disagree with most of them. Staff were friendly but maybe too busy- I had an empty glass for a while and no one came to ask if we would like to order more drinks - until after we’d finished eating and were ready to leave. They missed out on at least £15 in money they could have made on drinks because of this lack of attention. We weren’t allowed to change the crackers on the sharing platter starter to bread because ‘it’s a set thing’. Weird. I ordered a ‘Filey Bay’ pizza which was supposed to be prawns, mussels and squid. There was maybe 3 prawns on the pizza, a similar number of mussels and you needed a magnifying glass to find the squid. I stupidly expected a pizza laden with fresh seafood and garlic, unfortunately as others have said it resembled a frozen pizza with a few mussels chucked on. For a restaurant that only does pizzas I would expect much better. I also asked for pesto to be added - it was cheap pesto from a jar, very sharp and concentrated- I would have expected fresh, homemade pesto or at the very least not huge thick blobs, the jar pesto could have been thinned with olive oil to make it more of a drizzle. As it was it completely overpowered and ruined the pizza. The one cocktail I did have was fine but as I say, I would have ordered a few more if I was given the chance. Won’t...
Read moreAh man I really wanted to love this place! It was packed, it looks the part, the staff are lovely and the drinks really were very good but my god the food was just dreadful 😖 I feel quite irritated at the raving and blatantly deceptive reviews of the food to be honest. It was literally the worsr pizza I've ever had. I've had cheap frozen pizza supermarket pizza that was better. The base was clearly frozen, it was absolutely saturated in undercooked greasy cheese with absolutely zero flavour in site. My tongue was bored, I've seriously never had pizza that tasted of absolutely nothing Before!!
My view is, this is a great gin bar with food as an after thought which is backed up by the menu which is 3/4 full of drinks. Its a lovely little place, decorated very tastefully with a lovely atmosphere and very attentive staff but if you're going for the food, do yourself a favour and walk on by. You'll...
Read more10 of use went to the Boast Shed. The staff were brilliant. The service was good despite the owner having to take charge of the kitchen. Due to this and us being a table of ten there was some delay with the main courses. Although I have had much worse. The last pizza they served was a little "Doughy".
This is where the owner and staff showed their true colours. We were informed by them that our drinks would not be charged to the bill. It's very rare in my experience that restaurant identifies an issues and sorts it. A clear example to other establishments on how to deal with an issues. To the owner and staff at the Boat shed well done on going above and beyond when dealing with an issue.
We will definitely be back. PS the...
