Review from a happy coeliac :-)
Cosy & charming upper floor bistro with fine food and an excellent gluten-free range of bites, mains and desserts.
The Venue - the upstairs bistro area sits above a fine food emporium. One 'feature' wall is a huge blackboard decorated with evidence of foodie flair and passion. Comfy and cosy.
The Menu - Tasting platters offer a superb option for sharing or simply enjoying tantalizing variety. Main dishes include Gluten Free Fish & Chips with the first coated in a light tempura batter. Plenty of options for veggies and some compelling gluten free desserts!
The Food - Everything sampled was good to great. Juicy, garlicky Gamba's, Cheese selection with Gluten Free Crackers and a varied vegetarian platter including a ludicrously lovely batter coated melted Camembert. So good, I simply couldn't leave any room for dessert! :-O
The Service - I was superbly comfortable to eat here as a coeliac thanks to being greeted and treated in a friendly & considerate way both before and during my visit. Special thanks to Emily for taking good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe service is great and very welcoming atmosphere. I loved everything about the place until the food arrived. I usually donāt place negative comments but I ordered the Chinese noodles and expected it to come fresh and crisp, only for it to arrive over cooked and a bit stodgy unfortunately. We also ordered tapas and the meatball sauce tasted a bit sour. All in all, not an experience I would expect from a restaurant. Iāve eaten fresher food at Warwickshire services (which is a reflection in them as they were awesome, just expected more from a restaurant) when ordering and expensive dish, I would have hope for more than medium egg noodles and a few slices of veg. I wonāt be returning, just a heads up to the owners as to what is being sent out to the patrons. A lot of the food was left uneaten unfortunately, no need for a complaint, just maybe a heads up for future? Loved the vibe though, couldnāt fault the atmosphere and sorry...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe've been here for dinner once and really enjoyed it but I wouldn't recommend the Sunday roast.
The sides were good but portions VERY small, in particular the roast meat tapas. After feeling very excited for the meal it was disheartening to see the sharing board. If the cuts of meat were better it could have been worth the price point.
Lastly, the chicken was a bit bloody. The waiter was slightly dismissive, sending it back and bringing it out with the exterior seared yet still pink meat inside. I think the internal temperature meant it was safe to eat but I'm personally a bit uncomfortable eating pink chicken having had food poisoning from undercooked chicken before.
All in all, not an awful meal but not worth it either. Didn't manage to get a photo of the food before eating as I wasn't sure whether to leave a...
