The New Bookshop is both an excellent bright and spacious bookshop and a good café staffed by a lovely crew of women!!
The bookshop has a good children's book section and plenty of interesting fiction too.... I even browsed the poetry shelves hoping for a way in to appreciating writing in this form. Good fiction, recommended book shelves too, which I always love. Interesting card ideas also found with the Instead-of-a-Card range sampling a few poems on specific themes, which is a brilliant idea, new to me. Bookshop 5 stars with no problem. Loved it! Bought a book and a couple of those poetry cards.....
Café-wise, expect a really nice cup of coffee (you'll fancy two.... I had another one) and, if that's your bag, a superb cheese scone with chilli jam or onion marmalade. There are clean loos and really good service, delivered with a smile.
They even put up with a recommendation from a bloke like me, as I'd had a lovely cheese scone in Cley-next-the-Sea, with cream cheese and a good chutney. Check my Google reviews for detail.
Lunch items on the specials board looked worth trying and sounded tasty. Café definitely 5 stars as well and a brilliant bolt hole on a day when it was a thick, wet-you-through,. drizzle-cum-rain.
You can tell I liked this place. I think you might too if you like books and/or cafés. Try them out!! Did I say the cheese...
