I recently returned to this bar after having a pleasant first experience, where I enjoyed some reasonably priced wine and a tasty cheese board. I was excited to visit again, hoping for a similar experience. on my second visit, I found the bar empty, which should have raised a concern. The person in charge approached me with a wine recommendation and encouraged me to trust their suggestion. Looking back, it was a mistake not to inquire further about the details.I went along with the recommendation, expecting an enjoyable experience like my previous visit. But when the bill came, I was shocked to see that I had been charged an incredible £56 for just four glasses of wine!It was obvious that the staff had intentionally pushed the most expensive wine, taking advantage of the quiet atmosphere and my trust in their recommendation.Unfortunately, I can't recommend this bar anymore. It appears that their priority is making a quick profit rather than providing a genuinely enjoyable experience for customers. In the future, I'll be more vigilant and ask for more information before accepting any recommendations.

We spent the evening at the Sobo Sommelier last night celebrating my partners birthday. We had a really fantastic experience and would highly recommend a visit. I am sad to say I didn't catch anyone's name but we were served by the lovely south African man and Italian gentlemen. Their passion and knowledge for the wine and good service/making sure that we were seen too was evident. The service was fantastic being actively seen over with out feeling like we were being pushed along, I didn't need to top up my own glass once! The vibe is very friendly and chilled, we grazed on a cheese board and asked a few questions about the wine. We were incredibly appreciative that we were given a mini class on the importance of differnt glasses and talked though how this makes a difference and why and talked thought what you can expect for differnt regions. At the end of the evening we chatted for a while with the guys before making our way off and even at this point were offered for a taxi to be called for us. I cannot fault the service and will 100% return to this absolute gem.

We traveled to Bournemouth to a concert at the O2 arena and ahead of the concert we wanted to have some decent wine and maybe some nibbles with it, so we decided to take a walk to Sobo Sommelier. It was a great decision, the selection of wines was very good and wines of good quality, the service was 10 out of 10 and you can tell that they know their wines at this place. We also had some light nibbles to start with and then decided that as we were going to order a second bottle of wine, it would be wise to add some solid food. Had some of the tapas, serrano ham, prawns and meatballs and the quality was very good, all the food was delicious. Unfortunately for us, we live in Reading and don't have a place like this in town, if this was something more local to us, we would be going there quite regularly as everything during the evening was top notch for us.

We had a truly incredible experience at Sobo Sommelier!

We decided to let them guide us through the afternoon, accepting all the recommendation in terms of food and drinks.

We were after a tasting and pairing experience, each and every recommendation was absolutely spot on, even the ones which we would have not normally thought of (for example, a Martini cocktail with a specific type of cheese and meat!).

We can see this place becoming our new favourite spot to have a drink, some nibbles, and of course a chat and a giggle with the friendliest staff! They take the time to chat with clients, they really created a Mediterranean atmosphere (not sure if this is what they wanted, but to me is what I look for!) and they never seem stressed even when they got really busy.

A recommendation to other customers: if budget is not a problem, just go for it. If budget is important, I have no doubt that Mauro and Giancarlo will go above and beyond to make your evening special!

Thank you Mauro, Giancarlo and the rest of the staff for turning a normal day into a magical afternoon (and evening!). Well done to the owner as well for selecting these wonderful professionals.

We cannot praise you all highly enough, and will be back...
