I had visited TAJ MAHAL before, and since I could not stop thinking about their aroma and flavor s of fresh curry. I came back for the first time since the locked down and gosh, I craved the extreme, and I asked for the hotter of the hottest Curry they prepared for me last time, it was call Lamb NaGa, and it not not goo, but EXTREMELY SATISFIED.
And since it was quite a while since last experienced, I dared myself to ask for hotter than the hottest, then Helen, the owner was volunteered to prepared the treat for me, and she invited me to the kitchen and want me to taste her special version of DORSET NAGA , and listen to me, there was absolutely no word for the whole 48 years of experience of Auntie Helen in every single mouthful. She has set the par so high, I wish I could move to Bridport and live right in front of her kitchen.
I love foods, everyone know that, and to be spoiled as a member of the family like that is insane.
I am sure spicy foods is not for everyone, but this special family run curry specialist, would offer everybody according to your own preference.
The world around us become ever more cooperates, including the foods we are living with. A special traditional family run kitchen like Taj Mahal makes it all worthwhile.
I am not famous, but that DORSET NAGA should.
Enjoy.
Thank you very much Auntie! (No one know I packed your second Dorset NaGa back to...
Read moreUnfortunately we had an appalling experience at Taj Mahal today, I booked a table for 3 around 2 weeks prior, Upon arriving at the arranged time we were made to wait 15 minutes to be seated, even though there were several empty tables that we could have used. We then got shown to our seat by a completely uninterested waiter, who was cleaning tables on the way to showing us to our seats... the table had no napkins or glasses laid out like all of the others. When we questioned this and the empty tables, the waiter said they had been prebooked, to which i responded that we had also prebooked! They then used the excuse of being too busy to serve us and hadnt got round to us yet as they were serving others. Bare in mind the restaurant was half empty. Looks like they were treating us as tourists knowing we wouldnt be coming back, when we're in fact local, and they had forgotten our reservation (even after telling them our name etc upon arrival)! We got up and left after they served us our poppadoms and had a much better experience at Rakhang across the street. Avoid...
Read moreI was told the Taj Mahal was the best Indian Restaurant in the area and I wasn't disappointed.
I wanted to find it while I was visiting Bridport market so I knew where to go that evening. I found it alright. They left the door open and the enticing aroma filled the street. It was the most magical Indian cooking aroma I had experienced in ages. I just followed my nose and found it in East Street. Fantastic.
They had a very reasonable lunchtime menu which I wished I had time to try but I had already eaten lunch which was a shame.
I plumped for the Meat Madras which was perfect. It was just how I like it with the perfect blend of spicy fire without being uncomfortably hot. A generous portion of meat and curry gravy. My wife had a Prawn Dhansak which she enjoyed immensely.
The staff were very efficient and helpful. The service was very quick after making our order.
An Indian lady staff member named Helen was kind enough to help my wife who has difficulty walking, at the end of our meal into our car which was a very friendly touch. A perfect meal...
