Suburban Green — Restaurant in England

So today was a casual breakfast outing with my younger daughter and my eldest granddaughter aged 7. We had a variety of food and drinks. I had corned beef hash, bacon and a fried egg with extra hash browns. I had not had hash for years and this offering was fantastic. Daughter had a breakfast butty with hash browns. Delish. Granddaughter had smashed avocado and eggs on sourdough toast with hash browns. After she cleared her plate she announced that Suburban Green was her favourite eating place. I can’t disagree with that. She’s proving to be a younger version of Grace Dent! The atmosphere was buzzing even though it was only 10.30 in the morning. Festive music was the background Muzak. Service was prompt and very attentive. Shout out for Emma who led from the front. Well done everybody. Merry Xmas.

So today’s visit was judging time for the best Full English Breakfast in our local area. Suburban Green is one of the twelve finalists which has met the high bar my daughters and I have set. As expected the food quality was of an exceptional high standard. Faultless. Service was excellent and the resultant judging scores reflect this. Well done everyone. You’ve got a great place. We booked The Box at Suburban Green for my baby shower celebration and had the best day! The team went above and beyond for us - great communication beforehand, fantastic service on the day and a brilliant atmosphere. We had The Box to ourselves which was a beautiful room and we had part of the outdoor terrace too which was great for hosting welcome drinks and having extra space. There were 30 of us so we pre-booked and ordered the hot buffet party menu. The food was delicious, well presented, piping hot and catered to dietary requirements (vegan, veggie, specific allergies etc!). Great choice of food ranging from: chicken skewers, beef sliders, fries, bang bang cauliflower, hummus and flatbread, tempura jumbo prawns and the mac cheese croquettes. Thank you so much to everyone at Suburban Green for such a memorable and wonderful afternoon! Highly recommend this venue for an event or even if you want to have dinner, lunch or just a drink! First of all, I have to acknowledge that the food is always nice here and if that’s all you care about, then you’ll likely enjoy yourself. However, the standard of service is largely poor and you can often find long delays. Still, we have been happy to go back for the nice food. Unfortunately our most recent visit was completely spoiled when a waiter dropped a place full of food on my partner. A brief apology followed and an offer to get a cloth to help clear up…then another delay before a useless clump of damp paper towels arrived because they didn’t have a cloth (!?). My partner was sat with a spoiled top and we quickly asked for the bill (no gesture of good will as an apology or apology from the manager).
