I would say for how much the food in the restaurant costs I'd expect it to be nicer. The service was great, the server was attentive, polite and always had a smile. The decor of the restaurant was truly gorgeous, I wish I had taken a picture now. We were seated at a table under a couple heaters, the one I was sat by was off, which was good, but the one at the other end of the table was on and quiet warm, despite the restaurant already being warm enough. A problem I found I had was that the menu was actually massive, so big I couldn't actually see over it to see anyone else. I also found it had far too many choices and therefore words on the menu to look through, that I actually just gave up and went onto the Christmas set menu. There was five of us eating and three of us had the Christmas set menu which costs £40 for three courses. Now I'd say mine was really nice, I had tomato and basil soup for starter, chicken and mushroom in a creamy sauce and chocolate fondant for dessert. My one criticism is that the supposed garlic croutons that came with my soup, were actually three cubes of bread that didn't taste of garlic what so ever, other than that my set menu was delicious. My sister and mum, who also had the set menu, had nice starters, pasta and pate respectively, but they both had the same main of a turkey steak, with a turkey meat ball and pigs in blankets. I tried a bit of all three of those things on their plate and we all agreed, for both of them, the items were all overcooked. The turkey steak was tough to cut and chew, which shouldn't be the case. The turkey meat ball, which was literally a ball of turkey coated in bread crumbs and deep fried, was hard on the bottom, so hard that, that bit of it couldn't be eaten and then the pigs in blankets were clearly overdone as they were black, though they did taste ok. For how much the set menu cost they were a bit sad. I also observed that the garlic bread my brother-in-law got for starters, while pretty damn big, looked quite dry. However he was very happy with it, so maybe it tasted better than it looked. We all thought our desserts were lovely though. I had the chocolate fondant, which is what I took a picture of. I'd definitely recommend that and my tomato and basil soup, as it was amazing, if you don't mind bread cubes instead of croutons 😂 Saying all that, I did give the food a 4 star rating just because I did actually really enjoy mine, had I been my sister or mum reviewing the restaurant, then maybe I would've given the food 3 stars. I don't think this is a place I'd go again, it was nice to try but the food doesn't really seem necessarily worth the price and the big menu was really a struggle for me to...
Read moreAte at Cibo in Wilmslow for the first time ,it was a friends birthday meal,as a party of 5 we arrived ontime and had to wait a while to be seated upstairs which was nice as it was well away from the noisy bar area, you expect some places to be packed on a saturday night so that wasnt a problem once upstairs and seated we ordered our food,i have to say that the menu isnt very inspiring at all and it certainly isnt authentic italian food, any italian will tell you very clearly that carbonara never contains cream so seeing this on a menu was a surprise, for starters 3 of the party ordered the sharing platter which consisted on a selection of italian deli meats, salad, pickled vegetables and a few chunks of bread,it arrived and i thought there is no way that is for 3 people, yes it was nicely displayed on a stand but for 3 people it was laughable, the pate that was ordered by the 2 other diners was nothing to write home about 4 of us ordered pizza(as the menu wasnt very inspiring) and one diner ordered lasagne the lasagne looked pretty standard, the pizzas were not good, undercooked in the middle and the pizza bases were so soggy they were almost raw flavour wise 2 pizzas were ok,i mean its pretty hard to ruin a cheese and tomato piza and a spicy sausage pizza the smoked salmon and prawn pizza was ok but no flavour of lemon or dill, after a few bites it just became sickly and the smoked salmon was overpowering everything the pizza that had cream cheese, truffle and cured beef was disgusting, the cured beef when cooked turns into dry shoe leather and the cream cheese and truffle was quite frankly vile,i have no idea who thinks up these flavour combinations but when they are on a soggy pizza crust then they just turn into a sloppy mush overall i was very disappointed in my experience, yes the restaurant is pretty and its clearly a place to be seen in Wilmslow on a saturday night but when you cant get the basics right then you need to go back to your menu and look at what is coming out of the kitchen to summarise, its a place to be seen but if you want decent food then there are far better places to eat out in Wilmslow a few weeks earlier we had dined at Potyo which is very close by and that...
Read moreHad a table booked for 8pm on Saturday night. Arrived and waited outside the door for 30 minutes while others who had booked made a scene and got in quicker. After 30 minutes outside we finally got to the bar and stood for another 30 minutes. No one seemed to ask anyone’s name for the tables, was as if that whole booking scheme that night was scrapped. 1 hour In and we finally get to a table. We order straight away as we had other plans for the night. Due to the whole mess so far I asked if the bottle of white would be took of the bill at the end ( the bottle we got through at the bar while waiting for the table ) the manger said that’s not possible and gave me a lecture of patience. He then brought over a garlic bread which due to health issues I couldn’t actually eat but my partner enjoyed a few slices. Now 1 hour and a half after standing at the door of cibo and we still have no food barring the free garlic bread. Employees of cibo could see it wasn’t right and our table had no food and kept making small talk and saying they would check on the food. 2 hours later it’s now 10pm and the food arrives. I can’t complain about the food as always it was bloody amazing food wise. The manager comes over and asked how the nights going I told him the whole situation and how it’s not been very good at all. He then argues the toss with me while being very patronising. This made my partner feel very uneasy and as it was half way through the meal she didn’t finish it. From that conversation on it was as if the eyes of cibo never left our table… I think they thought we were going to walk out..: I mean after the service we had been supplied I’m not surprised. Due to the long process we had to skip dessert and get on our way to try and catch the last half of our nights plans. Very disappointed as cibo was our local and we...
