Me and my partner visited teatro Lounge today and have never dealt with such a dismissive and rude manager. We are regular customers to the Lounge chain and normally go to impero lounge in Portishead where we are never met with any problems and customer service is excellent. However today we went to teatro and ordered two breakfasts, knowing you had to pay for extras we added a few on that we paid for, we asked to swap two things from the plate for one thing from the extras. In every other lounge this has never been questioned and everyone is happy to accommodate, proven by the fact we went to impero afterwards and ordered the exact same and we were not charged for any extras they happily swapped anything we asked. However a member of staff at teatro approached the table and told us we couldn’t have the extras as we’d paid for things already on the dish but the extras we asked for weren’t in the dish so couldn’t be swapped. So we asked for them to simply accept that we’d paid for extras that we could’ve swapped as stated by the waitress as they were already in the dish and cost more than paying for the extras they wanted us to pay for. The manager then came over and said we had to pay for everything and no swaps could be done. For the sake of pence to disrupt a customers meal and genuinely stand and argue over some avocado being put on the plate instead of mushroom and tomato is absolutely mental. I work as a chef in fine dining and my partner works in hospitality in a managerial position, this behaviour is astounding. For the sake of asking for two things not on the plate but asking for one thing instead, whilst we have paid happily for every other extra is baffling. The manager was unapologetic. When we asked for a refund he left and never came back. It took us to go downstairs where we saw him running food and had to wait five minutes before he came over and said ‘oh yeah processed the refund’ he didn’t tell us how long it would take to go into our accounts, he never once apologised for the rudeness or inconvenience. From two people who work in that sector we are sympathetic and empathetic but the nature and behaviour of this manager is just unacceptable and should be dealt with immediately as we won’t ever be returning. In hospitality you do all you can for the customer, but over pennies, you’ve lost out on returning customers, so for being so up tight over a couple of pence, although we had paid for extras, it is ridiculous. To stand and argue with a customer in front of other customers is poor practice. I told the manager in every other lounge they never bat an eyelid and always serve us with a smile. This is highly disappointing. And if I were anyone in a higher position than him, there’d be an investigation into his conduct. He spoke rudely, dismissively and argumentatively. I have the patience and empathy of a saint to any and all hospitality staff knowing the customers you deal with and the stress of the job, but to be spoken to so rudely is disgusting. We won’t be returning. This is the second time we have had a disappointing experience and by the same manager, a few weeks ago we both attended and my partner had egg shell all in her food, she didn’t eat her breakfast, no one did a table check back so we had to get the managers attention who didn’t give us any solution or apologise and again we had to ask for the meal to be refunded which he did reluctantly. It wasn’t a tiny bit of egg shell it was significant. We hope you give the appropriate training to your management in future or...
Read moreLocated next to Lidl on the main road, we spotted Teatro as we drove by initially thinking it was a tea shop. We managed to find parking in a nearby residential side road but be aware there isn't any parking for the venue itself. When we entered, we were met with a surprise. Not just a tea shop but a surprisingly big quirky lively bar/restaurant/coffee and tea shop rolled into one. Set out over 2 floors with an outside terrace area upstairs and lots of different seating areas. Visually, it was amazing. Arty, fun colourful. I noticed all ages. Families with children well catered for as well as older people. It's accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs on the ground floor, but a flight of stairs is needed to access the first floor. I took my 84 year old Mum who uses a walking aid, and she loved it at Teatro. It was clearly hugely popular but we managed to locate a table in the window from which we could watch all the comings and goings. There are also tables outside, although expect a view of the road and traffic noise from steady stream if cars and shoppers coming and going from Lidls next door. Staff very friendly, but they seemed very stretched and were running around trying to see to everyone. It was a weekend, and lots of people had descended for lunch. Being gluten-free, i was given a specific menu, which was helpful, and overall, I found the staff attentive to any kind of allergies, if a bit anxious. I had to order at the bar rather than have my order taken at the table, which meant waiting in a queue. We waited some time for our order to arrive, but when it came, the food was good. However, my hummus order came with an enormous helping of hummus (nice) but very little bread to go with it. Drinks were all good, and there's a wide range to choose from, including cocktails. I had a non alcoholic one, which was very tasty and refreshing. The menu is worth a visit and caters to all, including vegetarians, vegan children, and guests with allergies. There's a range of tapas and burgers, too. It's the kind of place that's informal but fun. You can just as easily order a cuppa and cake as you can a full meal. Prices are good, and our lunch for 2 with drinks came in at £22. We would like to visit again. The main drawbacks are lack of parking and what seemed like a lack of sufficient staff, which led to delays. However, I would add that the staff on that day were helpful despite being rushed off their feet. We would visit...
