I was desperately searching for somewhere to eat as our intended venue was too busy and we happened upon Thai Cafe on Google maps. Highly rated, we decided to give it a go and we were not disappointed!

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, as well as attentive without being overbearing. The menu is well laid out and there are the usual Thai dishes you might expect. You can specify your spice level but now is not the time to show bravado as you definitely get what you ask for! It was nothing short of delicious, and although I was initially apprehensive that the portion size appeared to be somewhat lacking, by the time I was finished I was fully satisfied. The meal in the attached photograph is Penang curry with pork, and a side of coconut rice. My companion enjoyed a Pad Thai which looked and smelled similarly delicious.

2 courses and 2 drinks will cost between £20-30 per person depending on your selection - which I think is very reasonable. The staff bypassed the tip/gratuity selection when I was paying by card, so if you'd like to leave a tip be sure to let them know.

Allergens are listed on the menu, and I'd definitely recommend you speak with the server so there are no misunderstandings. I wasn't asked if I had any allergies, but nor do I expect to be (wherever I go).

The decor is modern and inviting, lending to a warm and welcoming yet relaxed atmosphere inside. I didn't visit the washroom but hygiene appeared to be well maintained elsewhere in the venue so I have no reason to question that.

There is seating for approximately 40 people, and whilst it was moderately busy but we didn't need to pre-book.

There is no car park, and because the venue is on a main shopping street parking may be limited at peak times, though there are parking spaces on side streets a short walk away.

There were families with young children eating when we arrived, so it appears welcoming to families but I did note that there were (apparently) no baby seats.

I had a great time at the Thai Cafe and I look forward to...

So nice we ordered twice (in a week and abit) 🐷 it’s a tad on the expensive side particularly for delivery. However the first time ordering we wanted to try somewhere new and sounding like the Thai food was authentic and not bland. It was lovely! Fresh and delicious and delivered in under 45 minutes - the vegetable spring rolls and sweet chili sauce are something else and the posh prawn toast is delicious. Tried the Thai green curry. Really nice just the right level of spice , rice cooked well, wish they did some sort of Thai fries or potato tots! Tonight tried the beef noodles, was cooked well but didn’t like it as much as I did the tgc, would order again but it did come to around £75 for two people With two courses and two starters , no drink options either on delivery. Tried the profiterole type Pudding. Wasn’t a massive fan of the spring role type profiteroles but the sauce they sent with it went really well with the...

First time coming here & all I can say is it deserves more than the 5 stars I can give. We dined in as a family of 4 (all adults) & all of us came away with only good things to say. The spice factor you can dial up or dial down which is a bonus for many families.

The service was incredible & the lady was so attentive. I wish I knew her name but all I know is she had braces & was so polite and went the extra mile with brining spice to the table and adding more lime in a drink without having to ask. Little things she picked up on but honestly it just blew me away.

The kitchen looked spotless & let’s just say we came away already talking about going back with friends. We went on a Monday evening so it was quiet but don’t let that put you off as there were takeaway orders aswell & we have walked past on a weekend and it has been busy.

Thank You to all who prepared and...

Well, I have to say, a bit of a find. Alex was lovely, the food was excellent, and not a Thai in sight. Except that Alex spent a considerable time in Thailand. No chicken satay as a starter, which was a surprise, equally, the chocolate spring rolls for dessert, couldn't be found in Bangkok, but maybe a western tilt towards a Thai taste bud, perhaps it'll end up like chicken tikka masala, in British Indian restaurants in 15years time. Either way, they were delicious. The only negative I could possibly bring up would be the staffs tendency to be on their phones on presumably social media, when customers were trying to catch their eye. But that's a minor point in an otherwise unexpectedly lovely evening...

Really disappointed. Just ordered the beef massaman curry, cost £15. They delivered a curry in a coffee sized cup with lid. Thought I'd be getting chunky beefy curry but it was really dry wafer thin beef like you'd get in a cheap sandwich. Way overpriced. Restaurant reviews look good, maybe avoid delivery. *Response to restaurant reply - good luck with the chewy dry overcooked sliced beef you provide in your dishes. *Response to owner comment about Specsavers - I got tested last week and I have 20/20 vision thank you. Maybe you should go to catering college and learn how to cook tender beef 🙂
