Review targeted for those who love coasters. I’m an amateur at this but I’ll try.

Buttery smooth ride. You could sleep in the seat /harness. This ride is not an out and out rocketship launch coaster, but it is not supposed to be. What it does, it excels at.

The launch is fast, but it picks up its speed gradually. The sense of speed is all in the rushing wind and smoke in the tunnel, not necessarily in the leaving your gut in the station.

I sat on the back row both times. The air time over the top hat is lovely. You feel just a little bit floaty and are thrown down the other side with just enough force to make it intense but enjoyable.

The inclined loop, barrel rolls etc which make up most of the ride are fun and fun is the word.

The second launch again is smooth as butter and rolling out at the crest of the Immelmann leaves you feeling like you are flying.

The ride is also a decent length. I think it is my favourite of the ‘big’ steel coasters in the park. I don’t want my review to be deceptive, it is fast and intense, but neither of these virtues are it’s outright best selling points.

You know you have ridden the Big One and will have left some gray matter from head banging on Infusion. You could ride Icon all day though and be none the worse for wear.

The lap bar is comfy. The “overhead restraints” float so far from your shoulders and head that they don’t restrict you or injure you.

I’m intrigued to try the ride from the now, I imagine the top hat and Immelmann will be...

If I could rate this ride six, even seven stars then I would. Absolutely incredible. Icon is the best rollercoaster in the park and it's not even close, which is saying a lot considering the Big One is 30 seconds walk away. The first launch, contrary to popular belief, is fast and intense, and the first 'top-hat' hill throws you up and out of your seat in a sensation that I have not felt on any other rollercoaster. It constantly whips you from side to side, over hills and above pavements. It goes upside down just twice, but those two inversions are absolutely perfect, dangling you upside down for what feels like forever. Although it's not for the faint of heart in any seat, I would recommend the back row, where the intensity level feels like it has doubled.

As a final message, to anyone worried about doing the ride, don't be. This is one of the best rollercoasters in the country, the continent, even the world, and you...

Interesting how it's a near 5 star review on here? For me it's a solid 3 star ride: They over spent on this ride! Point for the fast queue and ride operations,. Point for being comfortable and smooth. Point for squeezing it in somehow. Point for the theme and decoration.

Loose a point for not being fast or intense enough on the launches (like rock'n'rollercoaster or Rita) Loose a point for not having a proper loop the loop! I think their is room to squeeze one in still. Loose a point for not having a vertical drop?! Especially at the beginning up and over. Loose a point for having too many smooth left right checanes just to put something in before joining back up again. That could have been another corkscrew perhaps.

Not as exhilarating, fun or scary as the big one however if your in the park you may as well ride it. It's not terrible...

Icon is by far the best roller coaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and is debatably the best roller coaster in the UK. It is rideable for people of a wide range of ages and offers and experience made to thrill, not to brake records *cough Big One*. It is very smooth and comfy and the staff always send the trains out quickly so even if the queue is out of the entrance it is still only a half hour queue. It’s good because they offers freedom in your seat through a variety of quick turns, forces, launches and airtime making it in my opinion the UK’s best roller coaster. I highly recommend anyone who lives within 2 hours of Blackpool to come and ride this amazing coaster.
