One of the busiest, no frills lttle cafes & coffee shops that we've been in recently, and one that a lot of the "chain' coffee shops could learn a lesson or two from. Serving hot & cold drinks, homemade cakes, pies, sausage rolls, sandwiches, hot & cold meals...
Now anyone who follows me and reads my reviews will know that service, and in particular clean tables that are free from 'dead' cups, trays and debris in general are my pet hate. So many of the chain coffee shops have really let this slide, and whilst most of the 'chains' have three or even four members of staff, this is not the case at The Beach Hut which is being run smoothly, efficiently and cleanly with just two!
The essence of good service at The Beach Hut started with...how can I help you? What can I do for you? And more, all with a smile and the occasional 'love' thrown-in to boot and where necessary even a 'please bear with me'. All with a smile. So much of this is lacking at the chains. Food & drinks were prepared quickly, brought to the table in good time, and then any vacated tables were cleared and cleaned with the same prompt efficiency. No phaffing around, just good prompt service with a smile and at prices that are very reasonable.
We had a latte and a hot chocolate with a scone and a homemade sausage roll; all very good and just under £11 - not too shabby.
A smooth operation open on Friday's 10am til 2pm. Similar times most of the week. Good food, excellent service.

Read moreI have had complete MIXED experiences at this cafe - I guess it's luck of the draw who's on. I am writing this review based on my last experience.
The glass served with my water was VERY smelly (dirty stale dishcloth smell) - so after wasting the first quarter of water, I drank remainder from the bottle.
The nice farmhouse style bread they served me last time, was now value sliced white bread. Not only is the quality less, but the slices are half as thick - I left wondering if this was decision to switch to cheap ingredients, or if they just ran out and sent someone to the shop.
Butter (still in foil) was wedged between my 2 halves of toast. This meant it was a melted oily mess, we asked for it to be exchanged, which they did.
That said - the remainder of the breakfast itself was good. I have experienced this wide range of quality/service at this cafe over the 4-5 times I have been, and it somewhat puts me off rolling the dice again - which is a shame, cos when they get it right, they're about the...
Read moreWent in today for a sandwich at 2pm, it closes at 3 so plenty of time. Was told by a lovely girl they only had sandwiches and toasties after 12. Fair enough I thought. Then we heard the goblin in the back narrate from when we walked through the door to looking at the menu and talking to the girl. We soon walked out. If you're that mad someone wants to order something that we pay for because you can't be bothered then go back to the cave you were birthed from. 5 stars for the service from the...
