Visited Beefy Boys last night with high hopes, having heard a lot of hype about the place. We had a table booked for 14 at of us at 20:00
Unfortunately, our experience was tainted from the start.
We were greeted by a man named Joe at the front of house, who was, frankly, rude and unwelcoming. His opening line was, "What do you want?"—hardly the warm reception we had expected. He seemed stressed and annoyed, which he took out on us. We were abruptly told by him to wait outside in a corner and instructed NOT to smoke—fair enough on the rule, but the tone was completely off! I do not smoke.
Thankfully, a lovely waitress eventually came out to take our drinks order, and we were then shown to our table inside. From that point on, we never saw Joe again—thankfully. His attitude alone has put me off ever returning.
Once inside, the service improved slightly, though not without issues. Drinks were brought out by a staff member shouting the drink names across the table. The noise in the restaurant was overwhelming—packed full of loud, possibly drunk people, which might explain the shouting. A polite waiter took our food order, and things felt a bit more relaxed after that.
Now, onto the food. While the dishes didn’t resemble the glamorous photographs on the menu, the burgers were actually quite tasty, a bit too greasy for my personal taste!
However, service continued to be frustrating. We asked two different staff members for sauces. The first never came back, and the second took so long that most of us had nearly finished our fries by the time they arrived. This shouldn’t be a difficult request in a burger restaurant.
When it came time to pay, I mentioned Joe’s behaviour to our waiter. He apologized and said that kind of service is not what they aim for. I told him I’d be leaving a review—so here it is.
A real shame, because the food had potential. But poor service, lack of basic hospitality, and a stressful, noisy atmosphere ruined the night. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, ours was of Joe, who made us feel like an inconvenience the moment we walked through the door.
Won’t be coming back...
Read moreReally good burger place, more expensive than other burger bars but you get what you pay for. Had the hell boy burger as I love spicy food, it's not for the faint hearted as it is very spicy🫠, even had to sign a waiver for it 👿 we also had the pastrami fries which were really good, they cost a lot more than the other fries but there's enough for 2 people so price evens out as the other fries like millionaires fries are only half the portion (but they come with chipotle mayo dip which is really tasty), we also had a dirty burger and a kids baby boy chicken tender burger which was also really good (I had to taste it to see if the Chicken was as good as the beef?) the chicken was excellent but I'm a beef man myself, I had 4 smashed patty's on my burger because I'm a greedy git 🤣 wife had 2 smashed patty's on hers, we didn't eat for the rest of the day (we eat the burgers at 1pm) drinks were reasonable (soft drinks were £4 but refillable at the drinks station you just help yourself) £2 for a fruit shoot for the little one. Some of the milkshakes were expensive but sounded great not sure we would of had room though if we had ordered them. Best to book a table well in advanced as demand is high, there were some walk-ins when we got there but they had to sit at the bar. Staff were all excellent, service charge is automatically added to the bill but I didn't mind as we had great service from various members of the team. Merchandise is also available to buy, I received the cookbook as a present so will attempt to make something at home soon as we had to travel a while to get to our nearest beefy boys so I hope they continue to open more restaurants around the country. I will be going back again whenever I am near a town with one in. Expect to spend around £20-£30 a head so not that expensive in terms of eating, well worth a visit if you're thinking of it, the Cheltenham one also has lots of other shops etc nearby and the brewery quarter which has cinema, bowling, crazy golf and more ideal for birthdays and...
Read moreFirst visit having heard great things, was good but not great. Ordered at 2:50 and food arrived at 3:18, which I wouldn't have minded had I been warned, but I wasn't, don't know if this is there normal timespan. On ordering my burger I asked for no onions but extra pickle instead. When the food eventually arrived I found the burger and bun quite greasy, there was no onion (hooray) but no pickle at all either (boo)! I grabbed a server's attention and explained the mistake and he said let me go and check what you ordered, he then returned having seen I was right and said I'll show it to the kitchen (so all this time my food is cooling). When he returned he put the same burger back in front of me and a tiny dish of pickles alongside. I then disassembled my burger in order to add the pickle, but it was tasty so that was fine. The skin on fries where okay, already salted which I didn't mind, but it's worth pointing out there is enough for two people in one portion! I overheard a conversation nearby with some complaining about the add on charges for sauces and the service charge which went on for a long time, it was as if the server had to have the last word. At no point did anyone check how my food was, or apologise for how long the food had taken so I wasn't overly impressed with service. Having sat for ages after finishing my food, I finally gave up and got someone's attention and asked for the bill. I had been charged extra for the pickle, where I thought it would have been a free swap for the onions I hadn't had and yes, service was automatically added. IAfter again waiting for ages, I put my coat on and asked if I could pay at the till but was told no my colleague will come to you. I did think it was quite expensive and that the experience didn't quite live up to the hype, but it was...
