Where do I start? Positives: Was able to book a table on the same day we made the booking Supervisor seemed pleasant The food was delightful despite the sweltering conditions that the chefs were working in The place is clean including toilets Good location and availability of parking near by Nice restaurants/ bars nearby Good range of food (albeit I do miss the pollo pruchetto dish that used to be a chicken breast wrapped in ham, served with French beans, new potatoes).
Negatives: It disappoints me to say this as I have never had a bad experience at Tizzy's before, but the service at Hereford was diabolically shambolic - that is no exaggeration. I felt like I was eating at Faulty Towers. One of the waitresses was completely clueless, so much so she said that they did not sell bottled water (even though it's on the menu), she served us our desserts which were completely different to what we ordered and what she was saying that she was serving. Despite pointing out this difference our waitress looked at us as if to say "what's the problem". Her service skills were terrible. All items of food she did not place on the table, more like plonked them on the table. No "enjoy your meal...is there anything else you need?". She was completely clueless and it showed.
I'm actually a very understanding customer, and paid the bill in full, mainly because our meals were delightful and the chefs do not deserve penalising for the incompetent waiting staff member. BUT, I do not appreciate poor service.
I understand that there are staffing issues, with new starters in every place you eat now, BUT, that is no excuse for poor service, Mistakes yes, but her service left a lot to be desired. There were other staff members that had only recently started, but at least they had manners and showed that they were trying and apologised for any errors.
I think Zizzi's in Hereford need to reconsider how they train their serving staff before letting them loose on the shop floor. If staff cannot do the job and are unable to be polite when serving people and take note of what they are doing,. then they should not be working in the hospitality sector.
On a separate note there were a guy serving that day with blue eyes, short light brown/blondish eye who was very efficient. I wish we had him serve us as I am certain our experience would have been much better.
The chefs also looked like they were working very hard - so...
Read moreI have used Zizzis many times and always been really impressed. We visited this branch on a Sunday evening arcing just before 8:00 pm (it was open until 10:00) we had to wait nearly 10 mins to be seated (the restaurant was practically empty) the initial table service was ok if a little slow (surprising with three or four staff and no other customers). We tried to order a beer but first two choices (only an IPA nothing esoteric) and they were both out of stock! During the evening there was limited service, again a surprise given no one else was in the restaurant. After the main course we ordered a desert (about 9:20) after 10 mins we asked the waitress (who had a coat on by then) to chase it, she disappeared and never came back. Ten minutes later a surly member of staff (who turned out to be the manager) came and told us our choice had sold out and that we could order another, but was very reluctant to hand over the menus, the message was clear he wanted us to pay and leave. The saving grace is the pizza was lovely as always, but the terrible service would make me reluctant to visit again and for certain not in Hereford. If they don’t want customers on a Sunday...
Read moreThis place is so expensive. You cannot pretend to sell a pizza margherita for £11 and 95; this is a robbery. A margherita is made with really basic food and it's really cheap; it's not a big deal. Well it might be a big deal for you English people but I can tell you that in my country it costs something like 3 euros. I would accept to pay a lot but the quality of the food has to be excellent, but unfortunately yours is really poorly. Guys this restaurant has nothing in common with the Italian kitchen. I tried some "bruschetta" and, oh my God, one of the worst choice of my entire life. The bread wasn't cook well and it was full of tomatoes. Come on, the bruschetta is another basic food and really simple to make, but again, you messed it up. So at the end of my beautiful dinner I had to pay £33 for what? 1 margherita + 1 bruschetta + 2 peroni. Please do me a favour, have an holiday in Italy and try the food and especially learn how to cook it. So then you can make it in your country and say that it's "like" the italian food, but please don't tell bullshit to the people saying that yours it's an Italian cuisine because this is a swear and you are actually making...
