Easter Monday, 2022. Number 1 breakfast
I've rocked up to the esplanade with a few thousand other bikers and picked this establishment as it was the first I come to - best choice I'll make all day!
The sausages are well chosen - tender, flavourful and high quality, the bacon was cooked to chef's kiss perfection (the Achilles heel of many a greasy spoon) and the fried slice tasted like it was shallow fried (that's a hen's teeth menu item).
All the ladies there were quick, efficient and seemed to be buzzing to be there today.
As for the menu - it might look like a greasy spoon cafe, but I've never seen eggs Benedict on a cafe menu before... and if my meal is anything to go by, there will be no skimping on portion or quality.
If I can find one little niggle, it's the fact that I live the other side of the Thames estuary from here, so I won't be able to be a regular... but as long as all concerned keep on doing what they do, I'll be happy to come in...

But then the Poached eggs were undercooked. I've never had poached eggs served so undercooked. Could not have seen it until much later as it was smothered in hollandaise sauce. That's not always a bad thing. But I was disappointed. I was told that's how they do poached eggs :s ...that being said, I basically could not eat the breakfast. And rather than properly doing over the dish I accepted they do one poached egg, which was much better done. Honestly the presentation wasn't super great compared to another breakfast place nearby. The coffee was...
Read moreLovely little seaside cafe. Popped in here for lunch with the little ones and had a very nice meal. Portions are generous, service is quick and prices very reasonable. My Eggs Benedict with asparagus and crispy bacon, came out hot, well presented and tasted delicious, not sure if the hollandaise was home made but it was very good, either way. The jacket potato’s were huge, with plenty of filling and the sandwich we ordered was delicious, made with fresh, thick cut bread and good quality ham. Would certainly recommend to others and definitely intend to pop back again ourselves. Update: Their Ploughman’s...
