Southend-on-Sea Seafront — Attraction in England

Lovely seaside not too far from Central London, the beach had lots of space for families and there was a lovely play area for children too. Beachwise it wasn’t my favourite as it is a rocky beach and in the sun the rocks get very hot so it’s not much fun walking barefeet. The beach was clean and didn’t feel too busy as there was ample space. There are so many options for food and compared to other beaches, food was reasonably priced and large in portions. We ordered large cod and chips from Ye Olde Fish and Chips across the road for £11.00 each and Chicking next door which is halal also had a variety of yummy options. Ample space to eat in at both and thankfully they had air con and clean toilet facilities as well. The public toilets and baby changing facilities were locked which was unhelpful. A nice place to bring your family to on a nice hot day. Dip your toes into the water to cool the heat if you need to. Be wary that the water is extremely salty and you should avoid ingesting any quantity.

The beach is a rocky beach so there is little to no sand. Walking without shoes on proves tough as it can hurt the soles of your feet. Bring sandals or flip-flops if you want to walk on the beach and in the water.

The car park is very close the beach, only a short distance. Parking starts at £2.80 for an hour but can be extended incurring further fees. A good tip is to download the Southend Parking app for convenience when parking and paying.

Near the car park is the Sea-Life Adventure Aquarium which has a variety of sea life ranging from turtles to jellyfish, octopus and even sharks. If you have time out of your day you should definitely...

I have been here numerous times. At first glance the town is quite crowded, shops everywhere, but when you get to the seafront, it's quite impressive. Not bad for an hour and half drive from west london (Inc traffic). Many bars, B&Bs are reasonable. Loads to do as a family, as couples etc. There is a sealife aquarium, loads of restaurants & bars to choose from. An adventure park with rides, amusement within the seafront. Candy shops to buy traditional seaside rocks freshly made. Fish and chips, fresh doughnuts, slot machines. Very affordable prices for a day out or weekend stay.
