Wish you were here — Restaurant in England

I wasn't going to leave a review because members of my party were happy with the food but hopefully it'll become obvious below why I've decided to now. I walked into this place and asked to use the loo. Was told it's only for customers, which does kind of annoy me but I decided to ring my husband and get him and friends to come in and have lunch there as I liked the look of the place. There were 5 of us and not many customers at that point. The woman who "welcomed" me said she only had 4 person tables and we'd have to squeeze round one. I saw 2 6-person tables, only one had a reserved sign. We had someone in a wheelchair so I asked if we could do something to ensure we weren't on each other's laps! In the meantime a family of 6 entered and took the spare 6 person table. So she said we could have the reserved table for 50 mins as that's when the reservation was for. We said fine, we eat pretty fast! She didn't look too happy though. We sat and ordered within about 2 mins. We then waited almost an hour for the cooked meals! (a sandwich and jacket potato came out in good time so they had finished eating by the time the rest of us started). When the reservation time came we were worried about a group turning up before our food only to find out the reservation had cancelled! I commented that they could have told us this. The food finally came out and I noted that it was warm (enough to eat) but not properly hot. The others were happy and I was quite hungry by this point so I just ate it. In fairness it tasted pretty good but the chips were getting cold by the end. When we left I think I knew that I probably wouldn't go back because of the customer service... But today I just happen to have diarhoea. I can't say it's definitely connected but it does make you wonder. It's put me right off. On a side note I think I saw 2 people in the kitchen and the restaurant ended up full, plus the window served take away. Maybe they need to choose one or the other because they don't seem to...

My two younger sisters and I were caught in the rain.

So I thought to myself, getting a coffee or a snack in this Cafe nearby would be a good way to pass the time.

As soon as we were seen by the owner of the cafe by the doorway, she immediately berated us and ushered us out using phrases such as ‘you cannot wait in my entranceway’ and ‘this is my restaurant’.

This sudden use of harsh, uninviting language clearly encompassed the attitude of this establishment that being one that takes offence to people of colour

Astounded and honestly frightened by her quick judgement of us, I felt helpless in trying to fight our case even though we would’ve been glad to spend money in ‘her restaurant’

However, we waited outside and as the rain became more persistent A family who showed up to seek shelter from the rain were welcomed in immediately and offered a table.

This shows stark contrast as the mere sight of us, young asians, elicited a disproportionate reaction from the actual owner.

In all honesty, I hoped that the colour of my skin as a potential customer wouldn’t be responsible for the immediate judgement and inappropriate treatment by the owner, however with the events that have unfolded, I more than ever would be reluctant to dine at...

One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. We only came in for some chips and from the very start the service was rude, unfriendly, and unwelcoming. When our food arrived and we asked for a couple of extra plates to share, the staff outright refused — and the tone they used was unbelievably rude, as if we were asking for something outrageous.

We also asked for vinegar and were handed bottles that were disgusting. One of them looked like it had mould inside and smelled absolutely vile — I’ve attached a picture for proof. Completely unacceptable.

To make things worse, the whole time we were eating the staff were staring at us and making us feel uncomfortable, while treating other customers just fine. On top of that, the table we sat at (the only one big enough for us) was filthy — covered in crumbs and surrounded by about 20 flies buzzing around our food. I’ve added a picture of that too.

This place is dirty, the service is appalling, and the staff clearly don’t care about customers. Never coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend...
