The Seafood Shack — Restaurant in Great Britain

Went for lunch but the restaurant could not seat our 7 inside where it was air conditioned so had to sit in the yard at the rear. We ordered our drinks, food & paid. Of us, I was first to do so. However, as drinks arrived 10 minutes later, my glass of wine was absent. Another 5 minutes passed & 2 more drinks came. I asked for my drink & was told there was some mishap inside & would be there shortly. After another 5 minutes, the food started to arrive. In short, my food arrived - last - & still no glass of wine. I complained again & got the same story - some mishap, short staffed, etc. It took 35 minutes for someone to pour out a glass of wine! My point is, someone only needed to unscrew the lid & pour a glass of wine.....how hard can that be? Though ordered after me, my friends were getting cocktails made & delivered so there really was no excuse. You can't know you are 'having problems' with staffing, tills not working - or anything else - yet still take the money up front & then ignore a customers request - 3 times - for a simple drink! I paid for a service I did not get. I ordered the luxury seafood 'platter' & a side of fries. I was delivered the fries, not piping hot as I would expect from freshly fried, & my 'platter arrived minutes later. The 'platter' sounds large, but wasn't. I enjoyed what was on the plate & it probably represented fair value for money, given the price of seafood. I was given a small butter knife to eat with which was very uncomfortable in the hand. This restaurant was the new 'buzz' in town - & I was really looking forward to it after very good word-of-mouth reviews. I won't go back as 1st impressions tell me all - & 2 of the party who had been a couple of times said it was a bit of a '**-show'. I don't think I'm being harsh & can only review on my personal experience. This is a new business but basics like a drink, proper sized cutlery, sides delivered before mains, should not be an issue this early on. I hope others enjoy a better experience.

• Nice apology - but you were making cocktails for others in the party after my order. Had you been sorry, you might have offered the glass of wine for free after a 35 minute wait for it but you were too invested in the money in the till - & not the customer satisfaction - to consider some good-will gesture. I can't believe that the knife I had was your standard size. The fact that you deem yourselves as a 'shack' has no real definition whatsoever! I won't be back but hope you realise that you having a bad day should not mean the customer still pays full...

I wouldn't recommend this place purely for the fact the service was disgusting. Upon walking in and waiting for our table we witnessed a manager speaking to another member of staff (a chef) disgustingly. The attitude from some of the staff members was shocking to say the least. The female that mainly served us had a stinking attitude and made us feel unwelcome. We was a big table of around 10 people and we was sat by the windows where the sun was beaming hot right at us, we couldn't see and it was making us hot. They did move us to a different table but they didn't sound happy about it just complete attitude. We had to pre order our food I'm guessing this was because it was a large table booking, there was one meal missing and didn't come out until the rest of us had finished all our meals. They made it seem like it was our mistake. However, we checked the email we sent them, and it was on the email. The manager came out to us and said in a patronising tone "Do you have everything then?" Overall, the food was very nice, we had 2 seafood boils and they were very overrated for £75. I wouldn't recommend coming here for a seafood boil you may be disappointed. When it came to paying the bill, the same waitress with the stinking attitude came over and just gave us more attitude and when we kindly asked if we could have the missing meal taken off the Bill she bluntly said no, we then argued it and she agreed with an attitude of course. Overall, we all felt unwelcome and to top it off one of us was throwing up...

Just ate here and whilst the staff were pleasant the food was terrible.

We ordered:

Seafood Paella - Lacked any seafood flavour and tasted as if it were doused in lemon juice, really not nice.

Hot Mix - Bits of seafood served in a sour tasting broth, the seafood was overcooked, mushy in texture and the portion was very small.

Garlic and White Wine Mussels - An extremely small portion, perhaps we got given approximately 7 mussels in total, which is frankly a joke considering the price. Also the mussels were not cleaned properly, and the broth was similar to the hot mix, with a strong sour/lemon taste.

Calamari - Small portion, too salty and quite greasy. Subjective but we all found it odd to have a chilli sauce served with it.

Overall the quality and quantity of food were terrible value for money. If you're going to serve small portions, the food has to be good. Unfortunately we all thought every dish was bad.

The staff also forgot to serve one of our drinks, and a portion of chips.

Disssapointing as we thought this place would be much better considering it's highly rated on Google and...
