I’ve wandered past many times and the place is always busy, so my wife and I decided to try it out. The best Indian meal I’ve had! Superb food, excellent service and friendly staff. The gentleman who waited on our table was incredibly knowledgeable and gave recommendations based on our tastes. If you want to break out of your routine of getting the same meal every time you go to the Indian, this is the place to do it. My wife has a gluten allergy and the gentleman highlighted which dishes contained it. Very few as it turned out, so if you have a sensitivity then this place is a good option. We will definitely be returning soon and I look forward to trying out more new food and not having the same two or three things. I recommend booking to avoid disappointment. We didn’t and were lucky that they had space for us but the place filled up quickly and everyone else had booked. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. 5 stars only because it doesn’t allow me to ...
Read moreHonestly the worst Indian we’ve ever had. We always eat Indian and try various restaurants. I only ever write reviews if the Indian is outstanding or absolutely appalling. We seen it had great reviews so thought we’d try it, but we have no words for this one! Over £30 for 2 mains, rice and 2 nann. The curries were half empty, literally (see picture) . The panner tasted like chalk and was hardly cooked. The salad bag was the most shocking thing I’d even seen a few ‘leafs’ with a lemon.(see picture) Chicken tikka wasnt even ‘tikka’ The onion in my shashlik was dry, and they couldn’t even be bothered to cut it up a little bit, just a full onion and a full tomato plonked in the curry. And the chips were soggy and not even cooked. I refused my child to eat them they were that bad. If you can’t even cook chips then I’m worried. We must have tried 100s of Indians in the last few years and I’m sorry but this is worse one by miles....
Read moreMy wife and I came to Monsoon first following repeat recommendations from our in laws. We were visiting Filey for a week, and loved the restaurant so much we went twice. The curries were very flavourful and well cooked, we go to a lot of Indian restaurants (as they're our favourite go to meal) and Monsoon is now easily our favourite.
Rash and the team were very friendly and welcoming, offering advice and recommendations on different dishes to suit our tastes. We couldn't fault them in any way.
Even though we visited on a stormy week in late February, it's well worth booking in advance as the restaurant was (justifiably!) busy both nights we went there, but despite this the service was excellent and we felt well attended to throughout.
Absolutely fantastic experience all round, we would not hesitate to recommend Monsoon to anyone visiting Filey (or close...
