Six of us seated across two tables although ordered together. Ordered over Ā£40 of food and drinks. Drinks came together but only one of the three meals came. We waited. The first meal was finished. We waited. Our drinks were finished. We waited. A couple who arrived after us received their food. We questioned where our meals were. No apology, we were initially told it was because we were on separate tables. We pointed out the other couple arriving later had received theirs. The waitress, unapologetically again, went to chase it up. We were told because there was a mix of breakfast and lunch orders, they were cooked separately. Breakfast menu order was egg on toast, lunch menu was childās beans on toast and a BLT but apparently they take much longer. We were told that we should have been made aware of the delay, we werenāt, we were then patronisingly told that they werenāt going explain how a cafe kitchen works. As I am not a cafe owner, I do not need to know this, I do however know that if one meal is going to take longer, you should hold off making the other meals so that paying customers can eat together. When we went to pay, we thought as they said we were on separate tables, we should pay separately, however, it took them a while to work out the bills for the two separate tables as, they meals were written together⦠on one bill! Even though that was apparently the reason for the delay in the first place. We did get an apology at this point but it was a little too late. Overall, very rude staff we dealt with which is reflected in replies on any slightly negative review across google and Facebook. As a family who come to Filey regularly and have been paying customers in this cafe for over a decade, we will not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe'd popped in previously for a quick drink. A return visit was well overdue! This lovely cafe and bar has table service - a welcome difference to the usual counter service. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, bringing our drinks whole we chose what to eat from the extensive menu. I went for a jacket potato with cheese and a side salad. My guest went for the "brunch special" and had pulled pork ciabatta with poached egg and crispy onions. I wish I'd have gone for that too. Not that there was anything wrong with the jacket Potato! The food was freshly cooked and oh so tasty! I saw the legendary scones, but today was just a quick bite so we'll have to go back again! No step to access and plenty of space between tables. Clean toilets. Limited roadside parking. I gave it 4 stars for atmosphere which is a bit harsh but for me personally it was just lacking...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a lovely brunch here, the food was really good, served piping hot, swiftly and with a smile. I would highly recommend. P. S. I read others reviews out of interest. There are very few low ratings on here, but one in particular stood out regarding a party who were on two separate tables, initially and it was over a bank holiday weekend. Management gave a full, very detailed explanation in reply to the review. It highlighted not only just how much they value their business, but also the complications that can arise behind the scenes. I would ask people to see both sides of the picture, before 'liking' customer's complaints, the complainers are not always right and sometimes make misguided assumptions, they could always voice their disappointment at the time which is a much fairer and kinder way....
