The Castle Inn — Restaurant in England

Supposedly the 2nd best pub on the Island as claimed by CAMRA.🧐 A reasonable choice of ales. No food as far as I could see. I actually liked the suits of armour dotted around the establishment. I would have liked the Butcombe Original poured thru a sparkler. The lady behind the bar did kindly hint that a sparkler was around somewhere but nothing more was said about that awkward matter.😒

I do have to say that I've tasted a really nice pint of Butcombe Original back home in Scotland, served thru a sprinkler, with that all essential creamy head and I'm not sure a sparkler would have improved matters much in this instance.

Friendly staff and an otherwise...

Not friendly at all got accused of trying to take someone's handbag which was on the bar while ordering a drink believe me I don't need to do that I have enough handbags even the bar maid told the man to shut up . The big man doing the hot dogs tried to start trouble with two people I was with I think he is the landlord not a nice man . I never go in there normally only did because off the charity day will never go in there again . Wrong pub to include when doing a charity day like...

Working on the island and staying nearby. Pub was a great traditional sort of place; selection of ales and cracking Guinness. Pints were very well priced.

Staff were really friendly and the locals were a great bunch - cribbage and darts nights when we visited so a great busy pub atmosphere.

Extra bonus was the 'takeaway' service - get local food delivered or collected and they provide a plate and cutlery for your meal.
