We stayed here for two nights in Autumn 2023. Good points: The main premises & apartment block are situated close to the town centre with some on site free parking and a reasonably priced public car park right next door. The apartment we were given was very roomy with separate lounge, bedroom, kitchen & bathroom and the kitchen appliances were good quality consisting of washing machine, dish washer, fridge, fan oven, gas hob, cooker hood, microwave oven and kettle. A free-standing fan, hair dryer, clothes horse, steam iron & ironing board were also provided. Although we didn't need it, the flat had underfloor heating with per-room thermostats. The bed was comfortable as was the three-seater lounge sofa-bed with extra bedding provided. A fold-out bed was provided which would sleep a fifth person. The lounge had a large wall-mounted Freeview TV and the bedroom a smaller one. The lounge and bedroom had nice carpeting and the rest of the flat had good quality stone-effect tiling. Bad points: The web site shows pictures of the four star apartments in the main building but we were given what the site calls a 'serviced apartment' for which no pictures are shown for reasons that are pretty obvious. This is a shabby non-air-conditioned unit in the adjacent block of flats, some of which are clearly privately rented. We therefore had to run through the rain to get to the restaurant for breakfast and the view from the rear windows were of a smelly service alley and bins. There were also many problems with maintenance such as broken blinds, dirty and in need of repainting sash windows that wouldn't stay open, cracked bath surround, cracked fridge freezer compartment door and missing fridge door shelves, two of the four lounge ceiling lights, the under-cabinet kitchen lights and the bathroom mirror lights non-functional, missing remote control for the lounge TV, no anti-slip surface in the bath for showering, mismatched and not very clean crockery & cutlery and no washing up liquid or cloths or floor cleaning/brushing tools. The fridge barely kept things cool and was in need of defrosting and the bathroom sink plug mechanism was broken. The clocks on the boiler, heating & cooker were not set to the correct time and there were no instructions on how to arm the burglar alarm, use the oven timer or use the complex boiler & heating system. Many of the surfaces on the top of cupboards had not been cleaned for some time given the amount of greasy dust. There were unused cables hanging from the back of the lounge TV and wall plate and the lounge was very sparely furnished and decorated which was a shame as there was ample room for, say, a desk & chair or an armchair. However the most concerning problem was damp and mould on the bathroom walls and the bathroom floor by the bath which pose a health hazard for those with respiratory problems. Overall: Pricy two star apartment from a supposedly four star rated hotel.

Hi, We booked a table for four people tonight at 18:30pm and I must say the level of service has really gone down hill! To start off with when we first arrived my partner went to get us all drinks at the bar downstairs and three young female staff were stood down at the end of the bar talking to each other. My partner had to ask the Bartender to get their attention to serve us two to as he was busy serving other customers. We went upstairs as we had a table booked for 18:30pm only to be greeted by a female staff member with a love bite on her neck that was very prominent. She then realised she couldn’t operate the laptop because she was new so we were greeted by another new member of staff. We started ordering our food and my partner asked three times not to put hot sauce on the chicken wings and for sweat chilli on the side. The waitress confirmed that she understood. The appetisers took ages to arrive and when they did there was hot sauce on the chicken wings. We asked another member of staff to who seemed more experienced to replace the wrong order. She proceeded to inform us that there were 4 trainees on tonight who had only 4 day’s experience. When the replacement chicken wings came it was really greasy! We then waited until after 8pm to eventually get our four main meals and Unfortunately the hand cooked chips were rock hard on two of the fish and chip meals and were white in the middle like they had not been defrosted. No one came to the table and asked how our meals were or to offer anymore drinks. My partner flagged down the same waitress that we assumed had more experience to inform her of the quality the chips who offered to get more chips however my partner had finished his fish as was not prepared to wait any longer after waiting for his starter to be re cooked. After that conversation We waited and waited and we could see the staff in the staff area talking and no one checking on tables! There were empty glasses on numerous tables which we found very frustrating. We then got up as no one came with the bill or apologises or a discount and went to the staff area upstairs to ask for the bill. Very unprofessional and disappointed as we had a quest over from Thailand and we chose your restaurant as one of the best in the area. Not the Cheshire Cat experience we are used to!

Recently stayed at the cheshire cat. The pub is quaint and situated near by pubs and restaurants. However, the room we were given was small, and the bed was oversized for the small bedroom. It was a king-size bed, but it would be more suited to a double or small double/single. I kept knocking my legs, which caused bruising. On my right shin, after knocking it 4 times with how close the bed was to the bathroom door. The wetroom was a good size but needs updating. Pieces of tiles are missing. The bottom of the door is starting to rot and discolour due to the heat and water. Above the door is open so anyone in the bedroom will be able to hear the other in the bathroom. So, it's not exactly private. The room itself is cleaned to a great spec. I know the staff do a great job keeping on top of the house keeping so a shout out to the ladies. We decided to have a meal in the restaurant and it was lovely, well presented and fresh. However, on the morning, breakfast was a letdown. Poor choice! There was either a cooked breakfast ( 1 sausage, 1 piece of bacon and fried egg beans and hash brown and half tomatoe and mushrooms. But if you didn't like the breakfast or anything on the plate, you can not substitute it anything else. You can't change the option of eggs either. It was either fried or nothing. There is a vegetarian option also. Scrambled egg on toast, bacon or sausage sandwich, and porridge. There are no options for any other cereal. Would be nice to be able to substitute the scrambled egg for poached.? As for cereal, having the only choice for porridge is not good. What if you don't like porridge? Maybe have a selection of cereals to choose from yoghurts and fruit for those who don't eat a cooked breakfast. So the evening meal was fabulous, but the breakfast let's it down. I would like to say the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the bonus of air-conditioning in your room is amazing.
