Read moreTL:DR The pool is decent enough, but just try finding a time when it isn't too busy to go (pro-tip: you won't).
If you want to use the pool to actually swim you'll never get a time where the 6 lane pool doesn't have at least 12 people in it, and good luck sharing a lane with all the elderly who only do breaststroke at "just fast enough not to drown" and bob like driftwood as they cannot go in a straight line - and you can't avoid them, they love turning up at the busiest times, even though they basically have the pool to themselves from 8am to 5pm when everyone aged 5 to 65 is at school or work.
This is made worse by public swim times in the afternoon/evening when 1 of the 6 lanes is shut for swimming lessons. I get that a child needs to learn, but when there are multiple adults playing £30+ a month or £4 a time having to share a lane with 1-2 other adults (95% of whom as I've mentioned will only breaststroke), it's frustrating to see a whole lane shut down for 1 person regardless of why.
Later swims are besieged by white whales who do about 5 lengths in a 30 minute period, instead choosing to dock themselves at a side and force you to swim around them if you want to touch the edge and kick off again.
Early morning swims: Mostly young and middle-aged adults trying to get in a swim before work? Nope, old people who don't sleep anymore and don't understand the idea that they have literally all day when they could go - such as when others can't. One complaint: The rules say get changed in the changing rooms, not by the lockers. Too many old men are still getting naked by the lockers, probably getting off to the idea that young children could walk by and see them naked - there's no reason they can't get in a changing room and close the door since it's technically a public swim time.
Also: Ladies Only hours, but no Men Only hours - little bit sexist nowadays, don't you think?
So why 3 stars? Well, the facilities are well kept, the staff seem nice enough, and if by some miracle you can actually get a lane to swim in, there's really no problem.
Here's hoping for a...
Read moreI'm an Everybody Health & Leisure member and so get to use facilities here for free alongside those at all of the other Leisure and Lifestyle Centres in Cheshire East.
I'm purely a swimmer as due to having suffered with chronic arthritis for over 15 years now any form of gym work is just too painful.
In particular I visit Nantwich to use its amazing natural brine fed outdoor 30m pool. This is a truly superb facility and somewhere I visit every evening choosing to book the 18:45-19:45 slot every week day.
Depending on how tough my work day has been I manage to get between 25 and 45 lengths during the hour. The lanes are set out to cater for very average swimmers like me right up to some very accomplished swimmers who I regularly see using the faster single centre lanes.
The changing and shower facilities are top notch and the Everybody team keep them very clean despite them being very busy and being used by thousands of people a day.
All sessions for the outdoor pool need to be booked. This is now done via a very recently upgraded web/app which is very easy to use and enables you to book sessions up to a...
