Where to start, it was a night out with friends, 12 of us in total.
We were seated quickly as we had a reservation but the layout was bizarre. Long thin tables meant that the group was so spread out we basically ended up in 3 smaller groups and the tables aren't really wide enough to sit and eat without your plate being on top of someone else's.
I had the Big Pig burger, and despite it taking a while to get the food and the fact that it had Frazzles on it (yep, that's right, not real bacon but bacon flavoured crisps that go soggy with the fat ) it was quite enjoyable and it was cheap enough. My wife wasn't overly impressed with her meal and the lad opposite me had to send part of his back as it was completely cold. Didn't make him a new batch either, just reheated.
The food was the best part of the experience. The toilets are tiny, 2 men struggle to stand side by side at the urinals and it has one toilet, the womens was equally as small.
The worst part of the experience must have been going for a pee for a young male member of staff to walk out of the toilet cubicle, pull the door open and just walk out without washing his hands, something I wasn't overly impressed with especially when he later brought our food over. On top of that, we ordered our food by person so that each couple could easily pay for their meal at the end of the evening. Somehow it was put on to the till as one bill, and while we said what we had ordered and paid it wasn't being taken off the bill, which wasn't accurate anyway because they had somehow included items none of us had ordered.
30 minutes later we managed to leave the restaurant and carry on with our evening.
It's trying too hard to be some be some cool, hip fusion food hipster place when it really needs to concentrate on the basics such as staff training and...
Read moreIt's really difficult for me to say it but something happened to our street... We used to be regular customers but a lot of things have changed. What I really liked about it that I had couple of my favourite dishes and they were always affordable and very good quality. We were coming back from Wales and decided to eat something on the way. Mu husband really liked chicken burger but this time it was very dissappointing... the bap wasn't properly toasted, it used be nicely browned on the top... and the chicken, well the batter was really bad, it came off the chicken, was pale, tasteless and stuck to cheese which was a bad quality. The fries his and mine were really dry, half of them seasoned, half with no taste... My veggie burrito was so packed it was falling apart and cheese was stuck on one side and very greasy. We offered our feedback and we were offered to have a new portion but I really don't like wasting food and the taste of burrito I remember was still there, just different wrap and cheese... I really liked this place and it was my go to comfort food place. I really hope it was one off... to be honest the young gentleman who was dealing with us was so mature. I really loved the way he took the feedback. So maybe something will change? I really hope so. I can't even use the excuse that it was busy, we were the...
Read moreSadly after six years of visiting here, this may be our last. The standards over the past 12 months have deteriorated, with not only price increases but cost cutting as well. The Mother Clucker burger used to be a double buttermilk fried chicken burger with cheese, crispy onions and BBQ sauce. It came out as a cheap and nasty butterfly chicken with no cheese and onions that looked like they came off a burger van. The picture taken below from the wall is what the burger used to look like, and what we were served up. The burger cost £15, which is ridiculous considering what was served up. The brisket burger was tiny compared to the dirty burger style of past. The beef was a frozen patty and no where near the quality that it used to be. The coleslaw was also missing.
We were offered a free drink as compensation. The woman serving was apologetic and understood our complaint but even on a second burger arriving, it wasn't much better. Clearly the chef/standards have changed and it is sad. There are much better burgers now at Red Cow and The Leopard on Nantwich for a quid or so more with real chips and table service.
The appeal of Street was cheap and good quality food but that is no longer the case. If this keeps up, the place will be shut in the next 12 months as we certainly won't be returning after being...
