Originally called 'Mounts bay wine company' which was rarely open they have rebranded themselves 'the copper fox' which is basically half wine bar and half sushi restaurant. Being local to the area this caught my eye as to my knowledge there hasnt been anywhere in Penzance that has ever been a Sushi restaurant so me and my wife decided to give it a try.. we we're very impressed with the food, and the presentation.. our bill came to a fair £50 for the both of us and we had also both ordered drinks, also being a wine bar the drinks menu obviously very good. the only negatives are the restaurant isnt the best looking place they've done really well to put up Japanese art work infused with local art work to make the place look good, they use the same restaurant to host bands and the music they have playing (radio?) in the wine bar is fed to the restaurant and the door to the smoking area is also in the restaurant which can make the restaurant feel cold.

I'd highly recommend giving them a try if you're in the mood for sushi!, and you get to browse their rather fancy wine collections when you leave....

Fantastic new sushi bar , we have been three times, first time couldn't get in as a bit late , second time was absolutely amazing, great little nibbles to start and the menu is really great and easy to order from , food is so tasty and looks fantastic, presentation is perfect, unfortunately for us having a warm welcome is so important and today it was so bad if i didn't already know what the food was like we would have left , the lady was stoney faced , hardly spoke and we really felt very uncomfortable, the tables were not made up for meals and we didn't get offered any nibbles like we had the first time, when i asked she said they didn't have any and were expecting a delivery later , it would have been nice to have been told this , the waitress may have been having a bad day and i always try to take this into consideration but she needs to be a bit warmer to customers, i recommend this place all the time as the food is outstanding but not the service...

A joyful but very relaxed surprise!

We were hunting out dinner options and came across this one. We actually thought we were lost, it appears to only be a library looking bar from the front, upon entering We informed we were hoping to eat some dinner as well as a few drinks and were shown to the back room. The place in both areas was nice, warm, modern but approachably- it had a lovely mix of old world study aesthetics with modern bold minimalist touches. I loved it!

As for the staff, very kind and gentle- very allergy conscious and answered questions. I will say the Smokers area was quite roucousy from time to time but not too terrible.

The food was delightful! Granted there were a couple things I'd not have again, I think that's due to personal taste. Everything was presented so nicely and I had a good buzz and full belly going. Was a...

Superb sushi experience. Very freshly prepared and full of flavour on all dishes., tried a good selection. A superb experience all around. Nice setting with ambient music playing low in the background. The winner for us today was its dog friendly so we could eat in (my daughter loves sushi so we was going to get take out if we couldn’t mind) The cocktails was slightly on the strong side (is that actually a bad thing tho) according to the boss, but the IPA I had was more than acceptable. We also had a glass of orange wine each (something new as never seen it before) which was quite good, quite a moorish, dry which went down more like a red imo. A massive selection of wines and craft ales in cans to select from. Thank you :)
