GAME ON CORNWALL — Local services in Great Britain

Given all the glowing reviews, I was incredibly disappointed. Didn't seem to stock anything except some bits of Pokemon & TCG tat. Staff weren't interested in interacting, ignoring my greeting when I entered. There were some game consoles set up (none in use when I visited) and some room for playing boardgames (not suitable for TTRPG or TT Strategy etc) which were also empty. That was it, really. The absence of any stock completely confused me, I was expecting at least some RPG resources / accessories and the like.

Maybe I just caught them on a bad day. Maybe my expectations were too high. Regardless, I left disappointed and quickly, and have no incentive to return or recommend.

It's important to note that I did not enter the Pellar's Cauldron sub-shop (stocking "witchcraft supplies" alongside cosplay and LARP accessories - make of that combination what you will) as I have no interest in those products, so my review does not apply to that element...

Wow! First time visiting the shop today and we couldn’t be happier, I think this is one of the first times we’ve walked away from a shop and been excited to leave a 5* review and honestly had nothing bad to say!

The shop was much bigger than expected so it was lovely and spacious, everything was laid out beautifully so it was very easy to shop, the staff had exceptional customer skills and we were met with smiley faces and bubbly staff that helped with any questions we had!

From someone who struggles with social anxiety, it was an incredibly relaxing environment to be around, which generally doesn’t happen when I enter shops and other people filled environments.

If you haven’t checked out the shop but it’s been on your mind… do it, I can promise you that you won’t regret it! Thank you for the great experience Game on Cornwall, we will...

UPDATED REVIEW

2024 update: This shop has done a complete 180 since my first visit. The stock at the front of the shop seems to either be all out of stock or of a much lower quality than before. They seem to have slimmed down their card game offerings to cater singularly to young pokemon players with only a small yugioh selection and no magic the gathering or other TCGs at all. The ‘magic den’ is a nice addition and has some nice products but is not advertised well. Overall the shop now feels like a waiting zone for parents letting their children trade pokemon cards.

previous 2023 review: really fantastic new store! had a fantastic selection of games, nerdy bits, and trading cards, and even gave me a 2 for 1 deal on packs out of the good of their hearts 🥺 will definitely be returning when on holiday...
