The Exchange — Attraction in Penzance

Excellent small gallery. We visited this as part of a week in Cornwall, an exhibition had recently started here, unfortunately the Newlyn was still being rehung. The staff were friendly and helpful and the admission price was very reasonable. The gallery is compact but modern, and the display we saw was contemporary, but it doesn’t suffer the issues of bigger galleries which often confuse and lose focus. Waste of money and huge disappointment. The collection was minimal with only one artist with limited variety to say the least. Overpriced for what you get, no more than ten painting of the same thing from a singular artist. Meant to get tickets emailed to you for a ‘yearly pass’ to both galleries which never came through, making it an even bigger waste of money. Don’t bother...

I just love the laid back French jazz/Gypsy cafe sounds with that impeccable all in black bearded midnight smooth waiter effortlessly gliding across to the white haired old age pensioners slumped helplessly in the low slung lounge chairs.
