I am not vegan and I was really not looking forward to eat at The Core. I was actually dreading it, but I was really positively surprised. They have very nice decor sort of distress look. Food I had Smashed Avocado on toast at £6.95 and for this price this was a bargain. Fresh and crunchy bread with fresh and well spiced avocado with nicely poached egg. The dish was topped with rocket salad which was ok not amazing but ok, I would prefer to have this with fresh and crunchy spinach but you can't have it all 😜. It was really joy to eat this. For a drink I had really refreshing smoothie Carotene which was amazing well done and good company to my sandwich.

I first met Kris when he opened the Core in an Old Town. Sceptical at first, his passion for helping people with their health & wellbeing - whatever the issue - changed my view 100% and in all the time that I’ve known Kris & his team - they have kept evolving whilst holding on to the ‘ best bits ‘ - to benefit others. This post is a thank you to Kris & the Core - the juices are always nutritious & delicious ( even the one Dave describes as looking a bit like pondweed ) I am lucky to know some brilliant people in Old Town who make a genuine difference. Kris sits in the middle of that & a friend to so many in good & tough times alike.

Accessed via a door in a side street, this is a bit of a hidden gem. The decor is beautiful and there are large tables and sofas. I think it'd be a great place for a working brunch or to get work done in peace. There were only a few other people there when we were there. We ordered pancakes, a dragon bowl, a cappuccino and a tea. Service was quite slow but we didn't mind. The food was good but not our favourite place for breakfast - no reflection on the quality. Unfortunately the coffee was only room temperature and in fact the whole room was really cold - we kept our coats on.

The 2 stars I gave was props to the wonderful lady who sat us down and was so hospitable. We ordered the Cold Buster and the Mango & Coconut Matcha. The cold buster was satisfactory, served as it should and tasted as described. I am a matcha enthusiast and have been drinking matcha for years. The matcha was absolutely disappointing - worst matcha I've ever tasted and extortionately priced (£5.40!!!). I would even hesitate to call it matcha since it tasted nothing like it. There was no taste or visual indication that there's any mango in the drink. The quality and preparation of the matcha was unpleasant, it could be seen with the dull green colour of the matcha. I would suggest to improve the quality of matcha before adding it to the menu. Recommend for others to just...
