Went for a Christmas dinner for work. Overall, the establishment was very nice, no complaints with the staff. This was very cosy with the log fire. Music was loud, and everyone was talking loudly over the music. The drinks are not the cheapest. The starter was very nice (lamb) , the main meal I had the steak (highly recommended). However, when the dessert arrived (crumble), I was really looking forward to this, I wasn't told it was how hot this was. I took a small spoonful and blew on it, took a small bite, and burnt my mouth. If not for the fact that I wear an upper denture, I would have had a blister on the roof of my mouth. I waited about 5 minutes to try again, and it was still too hot to eat. That spoilt my evening. At least I couldn't complain about the food being cold. I personally wouldn't go here again just because of the reason that my dessert tried to scald my mouth. There was a great choice of food for all tastes and all the food that I saw looked very good and were presented well on the plates. There is no specific parking as this is on a busy road. Looks wheelchair friendly as I didn't trip over any steps going in. It wasn't the best experience, IMHO, but there are a lot of worse places you can find out there. Did I enjoy myself? Sort of. Would I...
Read moreWas quiet on arrival due to hot weather and others choosing to sit outside or go to another pub with a garden . Staff were immediately attentive and were more than happy to help with choice of wine and offering a taste to make sure it’s what we’d like . we were very impressed with the wine, and the price.and the staff. We had Sunday lunch, roast beef for me, turkey for my best friend Jon, we both loved the fact that it was served hot not Luke warm like some places and what everyone expects from a Sunday roast We decided it was the best we’d had in a long time. Service from all the staff was fantastic. We also noticed that the empathy and familiarity with customers who must be regulars was a joy to see and rare in these days. Big shout out to Stanley who was the star of the day with his waiting...
Read moreWe went to a local businesses leaving do at this pub, recently on a Monday evening from around 530pm we spent a lot of money as drinks are not cheap there, a few hours before the normal closing time, the pub decided they wanted to close for the evening as it was only Monday and not that busy, unbelievable, the rude barperson had the cheek to say we were rude as we were not happy being asked to drink up so early, in other words when asked to leave early do so and don't say a word, just comply. It's a business I walk past regularly, and even when there's a cup cricket match on next door, it's closed most of the time. Obviously, they don't...
