Great staff are par for the course in Ossett Houses - you’ll also always get a well kept pint of one of their house ales - 5 on offer today. It’s always a good sign when you find the pub filling up with regulars in the afternoon. Monthly live music and Quiz night every Thursday should keep you entertained. Located just round the corner from the castle.

After the trauma of "The Face Plank Arms," Casta and Jorvic brought us to this Ossett Brewery pub. Superb beer choice but I went for my favourite Butterly bitter. A lovely pub with a front paved patio and excellent taste in music. 5 Ossett, 1 guest and 2 real ciders. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2025 entry.

First time in this pub. It was full of strangely dressed people playing folk music. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and really good selection of beer. Glad I found this place. It looks a bit grim from the outside, which is why I’d never been in before.

Sunday 24/03/2024 Went in for a drink between 4pm and 6pm. First two drinks £6.75 second two drinks £6.75 Third two drinks £7.75 !!! When I asked the young man behind the bar for an explanation he said it was because the first two rounds had lime cordial and the last drink had lemonade. I told the young man I didn't have lime cordial I only had a lemonade top. He inferred that I was lying. He even said I had asked for lime. I told him why would I ask for lime when I don't have it in my drink. He again inferred that I was lying, I did in fact point out to him that he actually hadn't served me previously. He told me to "tone it down" His attitude condescending, his customer service skills were none evident. There was clear evidence that it was a staff error and and all the young man had to do was apologise and rectify. Instead he blatantly lied and caused an issue, which in turn has caused a grievance and a very...

Place used to be great but really gone down hill.

Walked in and the smell hits you.

When asked what dark rum they has it was met with "what you can see".

Asked if they had ginger beer and was answered with a statement that they have ginger ale. I said that i was asking about ginger beer and was answered with same with a cold stare and then I was accused of being rude.

I advised that i was asking about Ginger beer and was told again I was rude.

Clearly this young lady needs some customer service skills or there is a need for onother staff member if stress is felt with just one on duty.

If asking a queation is rude times have cleary changed. Needless to say I vacated and will not...

Visit here regularly when we stay at our caravan, but just wanted to mention the bar staff who were working yesterday (Sun 7th of May). It was very busy as there was an event on in the castle grounds, but the two bar staff on duty were very attentive and made sure everyone was served quickly and nobody was jumping the queue. Proper bar staff! As usual there was a good selection of beers and snacks, all reasonably priced. The only negative thing I can say is the smell of drains from the gents is very strong and stinks out the whole pub, but if the weather's decent you can...
