Claims to be dog friendly. Then after we've ordered and paid for very average drinks we are told by a miserable blonde woman to take our very well behaved, quiet mini dachshund off our ,knees and put her on the floor. She was causing no issues, was laid down, wasn't sniffing the table or anything (because I accept that would be out of order). Another place I'll never go back to. Not that I'll need to because luckily I don't live in the hole that is Filey.
Edit: Would just like to add to the owners response. We did not speak to ANYBODY like rubbish. We sat down and ordered drinks. Then we conversed with each other and your staff didn't exist to us so at what point did we 'speak to them like rubbish'? That's just an outright lie. She told us to put our dogs on the floor and we did. The end. We discussed it with each other at the table but didn't say a single word to the staff. And your analogy of would I like someone with a large dog on their knees is just idiotic. People with large dogs don't do that & I wouldn't care if they did as long as their dog wasn't in my face. My dog is 4.5kg and wasn't bothering anybody or near the table because I had my chair pulled back. So if someone was scared of a dog I don't see why they'd be less scared of one on the floor possibly scooting around their feet. Just a stupid rule implemented by a small, petty establishment. We'll never come back, you'll be as happy about that as we...
Read moreEarly Sunday morning local breakfast. we Walked in with 3 lasses stood behind counter just having a a good natter, that much they totally ignored us when we walked in with no hi or welcome, totally blanked. 5 to 10mins sat down I realise the menu says counter service on it but you'd expect interaction especially when it wasn't busy with plenty of staff about, not one came over to let you know to order at the counter but obviously staff glued behind counter just like when we walked in. Placed our order and with minutes our bacon and sausages sandwich arrived which seems very quickly cooked to say it took minutes. the sausages were dry and soild which summes up that they'd been pre cooked and warmed up for quick food service which for the prices you charge and not to receive a freshly cooked sandwich is just ridiculous. Not one staff member asked how anything was after receiving our food so overall the service was the lowest of the low. Also including the fact I find it bad how you have that many staff and charge so much but still the customers have to get up order at the counter then lurk around waiting for drinks to made to then carry back to your own table. After my experience there I felt like giving myself a tip, safe to say I've been twice in two distant occasions and it now...
Read moreFamily breakfast on 20 March. Judging by the amount of people in the cafe it is already very popular and looks like it will be a success. You place your order for food and drinks at the counter and wait for the drinks to take back to your table yourself. This, perhaps because it was so busy, can take quite a while and I would have thought it perhaps better if you could place your order and then sit down and the drinks brought to you. At times there seemed to be quite a queue which from what I saw did put a couple of people off from entering. Also noticed a bit of confusion as to whether you found a table first or not. Although some people find it a bonus, I'm not convinced about the dog friendly policy but that's only my preference and not a criticism. Food was tasty and good value and I would like to thank the man on the counter for granting me the option of NOT having to have black pudding with my breakfast. A definite plus for this cafe is the fact that it is actually open when you need somewhere to eat/drink. The same, we've noticed, can't be said for...
