We had a dinner reservation for 6 PM. We arrived around 5:45 PM and waited at the reception for about three minutes before a lady came to greet us. We later found out she was the manager for the evening, named Victoria. When I informed her about our 6 PM reservation, she responded with an unfriendly expression and tone, stating, "It's not 6 PM yet. You're too early. Sit over there and wait until we call your name." She then walked away immediately. At that time, we noticed there were over ten empty tables at the front of the restaurant, so we decided to sit there. After sitting for five minutes, Victoria saw us and yelled from a distance, "I told you to sit over there! You can't sit in the restaurant seats." We felt she was very rude, but chose not to argue and moved to the bar area next to the restaurant. After 6 PM, she called our name and seated us. I then asked if we could use a discount voucher we had. She replied that the voucher could only be used for the main menu, not the evening menu. She assigned a male waiter to serve us. Later, I carefully read the voucher, which only mentioned that it couldn't be used for breakfast, lunchtime, and Sunday roast menus, but made no mention of the evening menu. I asked the waiter about this, and after checking with a female colleague, he confirmed we could use the voucher for the evening menu. We then ordered from the evening menu and enjoyed our meal. However, when we were about to pay, Victoria came over angrily and said, "I told you the voucher couldn't be used. Why did you try to use it anyway? You won't get the discount tonight." I saw the male waiter looking helpless and apologetic, so I chose not to argue with her and paid the full price. We had a very unpleasant experience and will not be returning.

I would like to start with stating although they offer a reasonably priced set menu option where for £18.99 you get a drink, main meal with either a starter or a dessert from a selection of options it is very badly implemented. We ordered drinks to start with (which is pretty standard) which were then charged vs being included in the above price. After questioning some mistakes we went from £155 down to £132. It was just way more confusing than it needed to be. The food was ok but mistakes with the order. My son's burger (without all the healthy stuff) came as is so he picked out the stuff he refuses to eat. A dessert was also incorrect but quickly rectified. I like a good char on my food so was ok with what I had but I would think others may not have been. The portion size was fine with a main and dessert not leaving anyone feeling full. A Victim of its own success. This place hasn’t been open for long and it’s already struggling to cope. Admittedly it was a Saturday morning but it was full and we had to wait for a table. There are some serious pinch points which the designers got wrong. The queues at the food counter were long and the hot food was being taken as fast as the staff could replace it. But the biggest queues were at the tea and Coffee machines. There aren’t enough of them and the area is too small and too cramped to cope. The food is reasonable, looks ok and tastes reasonably good. There is obviously plenty available on the help yourself basis. The venue is comfortable and clean though the continental breakfast area got pretty well trashed and staff didn’t have time to keep it tidy and well stocked. In summary a good breakfast for the money but it is already struggling to keep up with demand.

We arrived at 1:10pm both disabled, husband on two walking sticks had to wait to be seated, approx 10mins. Waited a further 15mins for a drinks order to be taken, ordered 1/2 larger and lime and a pot of tea ordered food at same time. Drinks arrived 1pt instead of half ( only half drank) pot of tea was weak only to find out that I had been given green tea not black tea. Waited for meals until 2:10pm , peas dried up steak dried out. Eat meals then found someone and ordered another tea and a biscotti sundae, tea arrived, milk had turned sour and bits floating in it, biscotti arrived after asking for it, then a wait for a bill I didn’t pay for last pot of tea as not fit to drink. While I was waiting there were two other tables complaining about the wait , one saying they had been there 2 hrs wait horrendous the other had waited over an hour for food then chips cold. When manager told said there were only two staff on and they were busy , if I was a company I couldn’t take at least two hours out of my day for lunch. We tried this Beefeater for a second time as close to home and hoped it was better than first but no it’s worse.

We have been to Beefeater in Emerson Green a few times and never have to wait even if there is only two staff and restaurant is full.

Think management and staff need to get Stoke Gifford need to get sorted or you will lose a lot of custom.

Terrible service,...

We visited The Gifford for my son's 21st birthday. We visited on a Tuesday, it wasn't too busy, but still had an atmosphere. We were seated away from other groups, which was perfect as we were able to all hear each other when talking at the table. We were greeted by Lee. Lee was absolutely fantastic for the entirity of our visit, incredibly attentive, and went out of his way to make sure that we were all having a good evening. Of particular note was Lee's patience with my 80 year old mum who is partially deaf.

Our order was taken and repeated back to us to make sure there weren't any mistakes. The food arrived promptly and was really good. We had one minor issue with one dish (a lasagna) which was returned and an alternative was ordered, Lee again went out of his way to put this right, allowing for any other dish to be ordered but charged at the orginal price for the lasagna.

We all enjoyed our meals, and had a great evening. I cannot understate how much Lee was a significant factor in this, we were all talking about the service we recevied from him both in the car on the way home and later that evening - thank you Lee, you really made our evening.

I would recommend The Gifford, the prices are reasonable, and there are often offers/deals on, the food was great, the atmoshphere was spot on for our event, and the venue was clean/tidy on our visit, we...
