Barranco Lounge — Restaurant in Stoke Gifford

Came here for the first time, menu looked good and it was a sunny day (30 degrees) so thought perfect… upon arriving there were 4 or 5 members of staff stood at the bar, no one acknowledged us so I went over and asked if we should sit or wait, we were told we can sit anywhere and order from the bar or scan the QR code to order and pay. Funny when you scan the QR code you’re then asked if you want to leave a tip before even getting any service??

Drinks took ages to come. We were quite dehydrated because of the hot weather so I asked if we could have some water and they said there’s water at the bar which we can get ourselves.

Food came pretty much at the same time which was good, well presented and enjoyable. Solid 7/10 for food but a little on the smaller size. We ordered a couple of mains and tapas for 4 of us however they didn’t give us any side plates to eat the tapas so again I had to get up and ask for plates.

Unfortunately service is very very poor which let down the experience. Uniformed staff would have been better too.

Appalling experience! Never been before and won’t be going again! Arrived and sign said find your own table but nothing available to seat 5 people so had to drag tables around ourselves. Staff just looked on. Scanned QR code to order on line. Took forever to enter food and drink for 5 people and then selected checkout and the word ERROR appears on screen and took you back to the beginning. Had lost complete order so then went up to bar and tried to order. Massive queue and when we got to the front the lady serving said to her colleague‘I was meant to finish 10 mins ago’ so then walked off and we were left stood there being ignored by the other two visible staff for at least 10mins longer. Eventually got to order food and waited half an hour for it to arrive and when it did I was halfway through mine and found two black hairs in the middle - absolutely disgusting. Rest of family ate their food and we left. I would have complained to someone but as no staff anywhere to be seen that would have been difficult....

The ambiance was good and the food that we ordered was also very tasty. We ordered the drinks(one cocktail and and one mocktail) and while serving those drinks the waitress asked which one to be served to whom. When i told her the cocktail was for me, she asked to provide valid ID. So I told her i’m over the age limit for alcohol consumption and tried to show her photocopy of my passport from my phone and also logged in to the UK Government website to show my e-visa(which is a valid proof for my identity). However they clearly denied to accept those as proof of my age/identity as there is no physical document/id card for that and it’s on the phone. Point to be noted, UK government doesn’t provide any BRP card now and e-visa is the only proof of identity for the immigrants in UK. We tried to explain all these to the waitress and her manager as well but they declined to provide me my cocktail and refunded the money for the order. This added to the...
