I am part of a rock band and found ourselves needing a place to crash following a gig in Oswestry, and was recoommended this place by the owner of the venue we were playing just down the road. It was cheap so we took his advice.||||OK the room was a little bit sparten, full of some old 1950's style furnature that reminded me of my granny's house, but the room was large, had four comfortable beds and was clean. There was a kettle and cups and yer standard milk and tea bags on offer, but the coffee had run out, but as we always keep a jar in the van this was no biggie and we didn't bother hassling the staff for more. There was a telly screwed to the wall that only had a few free view channels on it, but a quick re-tune got the standard package so that was cool. (However the telly was as I said fixed to the wall,so we could do the standard rock and roll TV out the window trick - not that we would want to - flatscreen sets don't have them same effect as the only tube sets did when they smash ;) )||||We had booked two rooms and the guys in the other room reported no issues either.||||The bathroom was shared, and again sparten, but clean and useable, although we did have to 'give if a few minutes' after one of the road crew used it, but that is not the hotels fault!||||Sadly we didn't get to try the food as catering was done by the venue (The Fox Inn), but it did smell nice and next tour we will give The Griffin's grub a go.||||So we will stay here again, it's not flash or fancy and I wouldn't recommend the place to holiday makers looking for a swanky stay. BUT if your a touring musician, a business traveller, or a backpacker just looking for a good, clean, cheap place to crash for a night or two, then The Griffin is worth a look, I've stayed in far worse...

Read moreBooked a room for 2 nights at this accommodation. Only had 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel for 2 adults. The bathroom was covered in black mould, the room smelt of damp. There was no way to open the windows that were actually just sky lights so basically we were sleeping in a roof space. The tv didnt work. The bed mattress was so so old and worn out that we were actually sleeping on the bed base. We were told we had to vacate the room from 12 till 2 on our second day.... why as when we came back the room had not been cleaned and the wet towels were left where we had put them. The coffee/tea/milk had run out and not been replenished either. So the cleaner had not even been in the room to empty the rubbish bin. Needless to say we will not be back and will not...
