A really disappointing meal and the service was appalling from start to finish. Was so embarrassed taking our friends that were visiting here with us . We asked for popadoms to have a basket of Big broken bits of popadoms slammed in the table with 3 tiny dips you could barely share between two never mind 4 people, they were all soggy. We all ordered onion bahjis for starters to be told we could only have 2 portions as there wasn’t enough left So 2 people ordered something else. When starters finally arrived after waiting 45 they were overcooked and dry.But to then see them serving bahjis to other tables we asked why we couldn’t have 4 portions of bahjis to be told we thought you would like to try something else? So we were lied to but then to back track and say it’s good to try something else! What?! no we wanted what we asked for not to tell us to have something else we are paying good money for the food we want. The we waited another 40 minutes before asking how long our main meal was going to be? To then be told another 10/15 minutes. The service was very very slow. No back ground music in a big massive room. When the food did finally arrive well that was another disappointment a big one!! One of our friends ordered a korma it’s looked awful I had never seen a korma so bad it was like a broth all watery with chicken in it. Chips were just about warm. All of us had different curries and the lack of flavour and wasn’t well presented at all. A friend also at the start of the evening asked for a malibu and lemonade and it came and they had gave her a different drink not what she ordered. Because basically they said they haven’t got Malibu. Why not ask for her to choose something else instead of putting a drink she doesn’t like in front of her. We were all very very disappointed with the whole experience. We left feeling very deflated after paying a lot of money for our meal . Customer service needs improvement. Very slow there was lots of people sat waiting a very long time for there meals. We even heard the table behind us ask can they have there food now, they have been waiting a long time they were there...
Read moreFirst visit here with friends from Shrewsbury - we alternate when meeting up as our closest town is Oswestry. Mixed feelings from group especially about service. Myself and friend ordered same drink, which was apparently out of stock, so after a wait they brought an alternative flavour (without checking first) which neither of us liked so we politely declined and ordered a soft drink each. Our partners drinks had arrived first anyway so they had almost finished theirs by the time we had waited some time for our drinks and enquired where they were. Finally they came. Two of us had ordered Saag dishes - one Paneer the other Chicken and although I liked the sauce it definitely wasn't spinach based as the colour and taste were different. Tiny cubes of paneer weren't very plentiful but lots of sauce. I have tasted Saag at many different Indian establishments over the years and this was very different - nevertheless I enjoyed it - friend did not as it was not what she expected. Husband and other friend enjoyed their meals. Atmosphere is very different as it's a large space - characterful and interesting - possibly not cosy on a cold winter's night. Would we return? Mmm perhaps a second chance is only fair but service and professionalism needs to improve as this is normally a strength of Indian establishments. It definitely felt...
Read moreWe visited for a meal on recommendation whilst up seeing family in the area and it's the closest I've tasted to food I ate in India, and there are interesting items on the menu that you don't get at the more common "UK curry houses". Everything is fresh, not swimming in ghee and you can tell there is a real passion for the quality of food from the staff. We ordered puri for starters and on request were able to order Pani Puri off menu which was a really nice touch. The lamb chops starter is one of the best lamb dishes I've eaten in an Indian restaurant in the UK full stop. Tender lamb in a rich spicy sauce with charred tandoor flavours, it was so beautiful. I could eat endless plates of them. For mains we had a Fish Keralan curry and Lamb Rogan Josh, both packed full of flavour and on sides, a well balanced Saag Dhal, the flakiest crunchy on the outside soft on the inside Paratha, again, one of the best I've had in the UK, coconut rice for the fish and lime rice for the lamb. All round it was a fantastic meal. My only constructive criticism would be the need for a Spotify/YouTube premium account as every other song an advert came on over the speakers which wasn't great for the otherwise calm and meditative atmosphere. That aside, we'll be back again the next time we visit for sure as the food...
