Fabulous little herritage line with a spectacular main station at Oswestry. Very family friendly line as not too long for the kids. The line starts at Oswestry and finishes at Western Wharf station where you can find and excellent utilisation of a former LNER MK3 buffet coach that still to this day maintains its role with seating inside and out. This is flanked by Stonehouse Brewery - a fine establishment for food and drink. A visit to the Musuem that is situated across the car park in Oswestry is an absolute must which displays artifacts from Britains great railway history. If you are lucky you will greeted by local celebrity Mr Paul Evans inside the museum who will show you around and also holds just as much history and information as the pieces on display as he is indeed an ex Great Western Railways locomotive fireman from the steam hayday! You can pick up a copy of his book titled 'Steaming Through Life' (absolute must have if you're into the railways) i was fortunate enough for him to sign my copy. A fabulous historic Great British establishment inside one of Britain's finest towns. A must see.

Visited as part of the Heritage Open Days weekend with my not-quite two-year old and had a fantastic day. Oswestry station has great facilities, cafe was very reasonably priced for a cup of tea and plenty to keep a toddler occupied while waiting for the train, as well as good toilets and a dedicated baby change. The journey isn't very long to Weston Wharf but is long enough for the little one to enjoy riding in a railway compartment and look out the window. Services ran all day when we went, so you could spend longer there and go into the brewery, but the 40ish mins we had was enough to have a drink and snack in the buffet car and watch the engine run round before heading back to Oswestry. We then drove to Llynclys for a bonus ride in the brake van, pulled by a diesel. Sometimes they have a shuttle bus but it wasn't running when we went due to costs. Again, it was only a short ride to Penycarreg but ideal for a toddler to enjoy the perks of the guard's van! Really good value for money for a steam railway, the volunteers were all fantastic, they were all very accommodating and doing a great job.

Unforgettable Cambrian Train Experience! I booked the Cambrian Train Experience as a birthday present for my daughter – and it turned out to be amazing for all of us! Driving the train seemed a bit daunting at first, but everything was so well explained that she quickly felt confident and had an unforgettable time. Philip was fantastic – friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. We came away with wonderful memories and even a whole box of goodies to take home. Highly recommend – a truly special experience!

Even for someone who isn't a massive railway enthusiast, the Cambrian Heritage Railway in Oswestry is a truly enchanting experience. I was immediately struck by the undeniable charm of the steam locomotive—there's just something magical about seeing one in person, a living piece of history chugging along. The entire place is so well kept, a real credit to the dedicated volunteers who clearly pour their heart and soul into its preservation. From the beautifully restored station to the gleaming tracks and carriages, you can feel the history in every detail. It's more than just a railway; it's a window into the past, a step back in time to an era when these magnificent machines were the lifeblood of the country. The atmosphere is friendly, nostalgic, and full of historic charm. It's a fantastic day out for all ages, whether you're a train fanatic or, like me, just appreciate a slice of well-preserved heritage. A must-visit if you're in the...
