The week before last my wife and daughter went on a 3 nights bus trip with Caledonian, they came back a week gone Friday and I came to see my mate Paul Knox who lives in Seaham last Wednesday, whilst Paul went to the cobblers near the bus stop near the shopping centre I walked up Church Street to the Hat and Feather's for a decent pint or three of Carling. I sat outside with Deen and Tina our friends because it was a glorious day, moments after being joined by Paul. Shortly after that a chap came and sat on the next table (well not the table itself) you know what I mean. The chap spoke.

Shortly after that a chap came and sat on the table next to us (we'll not the table but you know what I mean). He started to talk with Tina and my ears soon pricked up. I phoned my wife in Whitburn and passed my phone to her driver, what a small world.
Spot on Weatherspoons staff, I know most businesses are expected to run on minimum staff for maximum...
Read moreWeatherspoons is one of my favourite places to go. Great service, food is fantastically priced and reasonable priced drinks compared to other pubs. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
I have visited many different Weatherspoons up and down the country. This is closest to my home so I probably visit this more than others. My only problem with this venue is that there are always lots of families with babies. This is obviously no fault of the Hat and feathers. So if you you don't mind drinking your relaxing pint with a baby or 5 screaming in your ear then this is a suitable place for you. Please be clear I have no problem with taking your family out for a meal. I just feel Weatherspoons despite having a children's menu is not a family oriented style bar. They will accommodate most family requests.
If you want to avoid the place filled with families with young children, I would suggest a later visit. The pub does welcome all and makes all...
Read moreNormally if say any weatherspoons is the same however.. The ambiance at the hat and feathers in Seaham is good considering and the feature fireplace is a warm welcome, but unfortunately the place is let down by the staff and service. Bearing in mind the staff themselves aren't the worst but on a number of occasions they've been short os steaks or various other meals on the special days or the food has been sub par. In comparison to some of the weatherspoons on the local area I would rather travel and not have a drink in order to receive a good meal and service.
When they manage tk improve I'll change the review but for now the place doesn't have the best of reputations and could do with some...
