We went to Seaham beach for our first trip out after being allowed out and were very pleasantly surprised. The beach is a mixture of pebbles and sand with some great rock pools to explore. It is spotlessly clean and not crowded. Seaham itself is easy to reach being just off the A19 and amazingly, parking is free. The town along the seafront is nice and the harbour is interesting. The Black Truffle cafe is recommended for an excellent coffee and snack. As usual at the moment, all the toilets were shut - why do they do that? Other than that, a great day out.

Review of Seaham Beach and Its Sea Glass

Seaham Beach is an enchanting coastal treasure that offers a unique experience for visitors. Situated along the beautiful coastline, the beach is renowned not only for its stunning natural beauty but also for its rich history of sea glass.

The beach itself is a peaceful haven, featuring a mix of sandy and pebbly stretches framed by rugged cliffs. It's an excellent spot for a leisurely walk, a family day out, or simply enjoying the soothing sound of waves lapping against the shore. The views are breathtaking, with the North Sea stretching out to the horizon, often reflecting the changing colors of the sky.

What truly sets Seaham Beach apart is its abundance of sea glass. These colorful, weathered fragments are remnants of old glassworks that once operated in the area. The glass, polished smooth by decades of tumbling in the sea, can be found in a variety of shapes, sizes, and hues—ranging from vibrant blues and greens to the rarer reds and purples. Beachcombing for sea glass is a delightful pastime here, drawing collectors and casual visitors alike. Each piece tells a story of history and transformation, making the experience both fascinating and meditative.

The beach is well-kept and accessible, with ample parking and convenient facilities nearby. There are also charming cafes and shops in Seaham where you can relax and perhaps even purchase locally-made sea glass jewelry or crafts.

In conclusion, Seaham Beach is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates natural beauty, history, and the simple joys of beachcombing. It's a perfect blend of tranquility and intrigue, offering visitors a chance to find hidden treasures and enjoy the stunning coastal scenery. Whether you're a local or a tourist, Seaham Beach provides a memorable and...

A wonderful beach, a mix of sand and pebbles, with cliffs behind for added shelter. There's also plenty of free parking nearby and the beach is a short walk from the front which has a good selection of food and drink places. Downeys is a good chippy, you can sit in also, but it's not the most efficient of places service wise. There's another collection of food and drink places down at the docks, where there is also free parking. The hill can be a bit steep for the really young or old. Fun fact: you will see a lot of people scouring the pebbles on the beach, there used to be a glass works here, the waste was thrown in the sea and now washes up, some local artists...

Amazing Rock Pools, great to find Sea Glass and there's so much to explore. It's definitely better than where I live, Skegness Beach. It's worth every Beach trip, but If it's like 3 hours for you then maybe it's a one a month or something. It's never that crowded, there are different beaches like a small then a main large one. There is loads of sea glass which a member of my family makes like chopping boards with them in. Sea glass is tiny but worth it! But don't sell it if your not sure because sometimes those people say "oh it's so rare" when it's not. It's good for Children to run around and there's plenty of space,...
