Prices for room and food were very reasonable. A couple of things took us back. First night we checked in there was actually someone at the desk. Every time we went to the desk during our stay there was no one to be seen. So we just managed on.our own. Also the first night we needed to get a phone charger. We asked the bar staff where the closest store was they couldnt tell us. We asked about the hours of the Sainsbury store. Once again they could not tell us. Which we felt was odd due to they live/work in the area they should have this knowledge. We had to tell them about the Sainsbury store while asking their hours. We risked Sainsburys being open and walked in the rain l, found they were open, bought the charger, and came back. Deciding to have dinner there we discovered to order one must download the app. We were ok with that. But who is to come and wipe the table before our food is to arrive? Who is to bring us extra napkins ? While waiting for.our dinner we happened to notice there is a phone charger outlet at the table. Might want to tell the bar staff. Apparently they do not know. It would have saved us a walk in the rain. On the 2nd day walking the town center we found plenty of.places closer that we could have gotten a charger and not had to walk as far.and in the rain. We let the bar staff know when we got back because again they had no idea. They need to walk around the town center and see what is in their area. It might earn them bigger tips.Back.to.our dining experience...We discovered we were to get our own condiments from the table across from the coffee machine. Food was hot and plenty. So very thankful for that. As for the room. Room 103. It was nice and quant. It was also clean. However the mens room hand dryer needs to be removed!! We know it is then mens dryer due to the conversation the men were having. Yes, we could hear their conversations also. We could also hear the kitchen staff.conversations outside our window. The kitchen staff were.not as bad as the mens room. Management needs to do something with that dryer. It.is extremely annoying. It can wake you up in the middle of.your sleep. As well as the firedoors. They slam every time they are used. Maybe management needs to stay in that room.for a night. Give it a.try. You will totally understand! We did meet a few of the staff that were very kind. One was a young lady with long dark hair and she has a young son. Unfortunately we did not get her name but she was an absolute delight to have a laugh with each.morning and.made sure the kitchen staff knew to.scramble my.husbands eggs since he does not.like fried. We also met a nice.young.lad who.was always there for us to wipe down.our table. When he was around there was.never a dirty table. Both employees were such a joy and we will.not forget them. Thank you!! I would also like to say music would be nice to.listen to. Even if it is set as background music. Please take.my comments.and recommendations into.consideration. It.could boost your score to a strong 5. Have a wonderful year ahead. The...
Read moreSo this hotel is not bad and ticked a load of boxes such as quality towels, clean shower and nice white sheets. But if you have an issue with mobility this really isn’t the hotel for you.
The reception is on the first floor which is only accessible by stairs with all rooms on either the first or second floor. there is no lift and although there is a sign at reception if you have mobility issues you can call my experience would say this isn’t a access friendly hotel for those who can’t walk up the stairs.
It should also be noted that the ladies toilet is on the first floor it’s so if you are visiting the pub for drinks and food that may be something you want to take into consideration. There is of course a disabled toilet on the ground floor if needed.
We had room 205 on the second floor which wasn’t massive but was on the whole clean the shower was hot and powerful but was missing a Lance (wasn’t part of the shower) which is a shame for those who don’t want to get their hair wet, they did however supply shower gel and hand soap the towels were nice and fluffy and the bed all be it hard was comfy. There were a couple of unsightly stains on the divan part of the bed which was a bit of a shame but otherwise couldn’t really find fault
We had breakfast at the pub on two occasions and have to say the service was very very quick and the food was very tasty and you simply can’t fault the value for money. The beer and drinks as always are as you would expect with Wetherspoons fairly priced and lots of choice.
So some useful information, if you do not have the Wetherspoons app and want tableservice you will have to sit at the front of the pub at the staff said they do not do waiter service at the back. If you are coming by car you will have to park in the car park at the rear of the pub which is chargeable 24 hours a day seven days a week. As I said earlier in this review access to the hotel is By means of the stairs and always always ensure you have a confirmation email before you arrive as my friend had three rooms booked but only a confirmation email for one and the hotel sold out so we had to go and stay at a hotel...

We arrived at 11.50 and ordered drinks first followed by food. We were served multiple times without issue, in fact really well. At just after 1pm a different staff member came to clear the table and asked us to ensure that “next time” we didn’t move chairs and we should sit on two tables. She then returned some 3-4 minutes later and inexplicably and out of the blue told us we had to leave! We asked to speak to a manager. Another team member arrived, arms folded, and asked what we wanted . We explained why we’d asked to see her and how upset we were at being asked to leave. She offered no apology. When we pointed out that other tables had also pulled in chairs to cater for their larger groups she simply shrugged. We asked for her name. She refused to give it to us. We pointed out that we’d been there for over an hour and only after they’d taken our money and served us (without any comments or concerns) were they asking us to leave. We left immediately. We’ll not be going back and would caution anyone else from going there. Leaving a pub to be managed by teenagers on a Saturday afternoon is a recipe...
