Visited 2nd October 2023 late afternoon.
Back street pub in the heart of Derby's West End, surrounded by flats and houses.
Looks a little rough from the outside and the inside is perhaps a bit tired; however, it's perfectly clean as were the toilets with toilet roll, hot water and working hand dryers....it's sometimes those small things that mean the most.
Fairly typical range of big brand lagers, cider and spirits on offer, including drinks offers, also 3 cask beers on our visit which seemed well kept and drank well.
Staff were friendly and helpful as were the other customers.
Pool table in the back room and there's a decent beer garden to the side, live music is on every/most Saturdays.
A classic example of why you shouldn't judge a book...

Obviously under new management now who has kept the place pretty much the same as it was all those years ago in very good condition. We came here for my dad's wake it was like stepping back in time had a wonderful afternoon sharing old memories on what was a very special place to the whole family. Thank you for such great hospitality and making a very sad day for us all. The place is very quaint, quiet. Doesn't have car parking but no drink driving. Difficult entry for wheelchair users but it can be done....

A friend from Derby had recommended this place, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that I simply had bad luck. As it is, a typical, fairly roomy community boozer with (theoretically) 5 ales on tap. With a pool table...
