I Had breakfast today in the John Peel in Shaftesbury, Ham,Egg and Chips. After a half hour wait my foot arrived and i decided to put some vinegar on my chips, I wasn't quite looking at where the vinegar was going as i was also reading a text i had just received. When i stoped and looked at my food it was covered in eight dead flies which came out the vinegar bottle. I reported this to the lady at the till who didn't seem to interested, I picked the flies out and put them on my napkin ate two chips and left feeling very disgusted in the whole thing. Don't thing i will be going back there Alan

Kids macaroni and cheese was pretty rank (tasted like melted down plastic cheese). Toilets fairly disgusting. I got the big breakfast for about £11, which I consider quite a lot, and it was hearty tbf, but sausages overdone, toast a bit burnt, obviously not quality ingredients, etc. The decor is a bit weird - loads of pine everywhere and at the back it’s like a bright orange lava cave or something 🤷‍♂️ It’s an unpretentious place with friendly young staff, so if you want those greasy spoon vibes it might hit the spot, but can’t say we’d recommend it as such.

FANTASTIC!!! Scrambled eggs were soooo fluffy!! I'm 6ft 1in in my motorcycle boots and my head was no where near the ceiling. Food was perfect, cooked to perfection, hot, spot on... no grease or oil!!! I have no idea why someone commented on the ceiling or oil!! Hey ho.. each to their own. I needed to eat something substantial and decent before my long motorcycle ride home, this place, #thejohnpeel nailed it! Definitely recommend for any bikers needing refueling, before going out for a bimble. #bikers #viking #thevikingsadventures

I have been in here a few times with my daughter and grandkids. We went in on Saturday and it was really busy. We did have about 45 minute wait as they were behind. They had to shut the door to other customers.1 of the lads working on Saturday should have been sent home to either change his shirt or iron the 1 he had on. It didn't look good and he looked very scruffy. I 1st ordered fish and chips, after about 5 minutes someone came over and said they didn't have any fish, so i then ordered bacon and coleslaw and about 10 minutes before our food arrived they came over and said they didn't have any coleslaw (at lunchtime) the garnish was just lots of dripping wet lettuce and some tomatoes. Nothing else so very disappointed but I understand lot of cafes get really busy etc. I will go in for coffee when I'm visiting my daughter and grandkids. Overall it is nice place with plenty of seating. It does need a good clean(cobwebs everywhere) maybe a revamp. There is only 1 toilet for female's. It smells very damp. There should be more toilets for the establishment especially when it's really busy. There isn't any wheelchair...

Went for breakfast here today 3adults 2 children. The owner... well he was rude abrupt and quite frankly I'm surprised he has a business if that's how he speaks to people!! We all had full English what they call the peel and the big one. Both were ok as breakfast goes nothing great in fact weatherspoons have a higher standard. The price did not reflect the standard of food either at 20.00 for 2 adults to have breakfast!!! We were then joined by local kids aged 18-25 who proceeded to use language discussing drug use and sexual acts while they could see there were children near by aged 11 and 6. We quickly decided to pay up and leave. When I got to the till the nice may I add worker apologised for the idiots. Considering I didn't even mention them the staff were aware of what was going on yet the once vocal owner had fell silent and not 1- asked them to shut it or 2- asked them to leave. So if you want a nice breakfast at a good price on a nice family Sunday DO NOT VISIT THIS CAFE. Between the owner the food and the people they let in it's got to be the worst place I've ever eaten. I am a local...

The place and food itself was very nice but my experience left me feeling very uncomfortable. I went with my partner for lunch. He ordered a burger and I ordered a breakfast, which was very large and great value for the price! However, there is an older gentleman who works there or cooks there, I'm unsure, but he made me feel very uncomfortable. When our food arrived and the larger plate was my meal, and not my partner's, he made a comment of it being 'the wrong way round', implying that as the female in the relationship, I shouldn't be eating the larger meal. I felt shamed and I was dying to leave. I felt so uncomfortable eating there and would never return based on this. I suggest in the future, you don't comment on your customer's food, you change your offensive opinions and refrain from shaming...
